Ly Lam
From the seaport town of Danang
in Central Vietnam, Lam is largely
credited for introducing vintage style to
Saigon. Previously working in model
management and PR she took the
plunge into fashion design creating
Lam, a quaint boutique offering
feminine and flowing separates in all
color schemes imaginable. It’s currently
the rage among the 20-something and
she is set to open her fourth shop
next year.
Does living in Vietnam limit what you
are able to wear?
Yes, but not because of the weather,
[
it’s] the people. [Personally] I like
wearing what I want. I’m dressing for
myself, not for others. If I don’t wear
what I want I won’t be happy.
What do you like to wear?
I don’t like any one designer. I like high
labels like Chloé as well as boutiques,
a combination in the end of mixing and
matching. I love luxury brands for my
accessories especially by Coco Chanel,
but from long ago, the designs that
have her spirit. I bring vintage clothes
and shoes back from Europe and sell
them in their original form or use them
as inspirations for new Lam creations.
