Business is buzzing
Today, 12 years after coming home
to Bohol, Vicky is the picture of
contentment as she enjoys a cup of
organic hot
tsokolate
while staring out
at the Mindanao Sea. Her children,
Melanie, 29, and Abdull, 27, are both
nurses. She has remarried (she now
goes by the name Vicky Sandidge),
and has an adopted daughter, Maggie,
8. And her “little” business is buzzing
with energy. The Bohol Bee Farm now
has 40 rustic cottages, some even
with their own small private pool; four
restaurants that serve delicious organic
food and honey-based dishes, two of
which boast stunning seaside views;
and a spa that offers probably the best
traditional
hilot
(massage) in Panglao
Island. Although she sold her bee
colonies five years ago, her thriving
souvenir shop sells honey in all its
sweet incarnations sourced from other
local beekeepers.
