contemplating suicide, yet comes across intriguing characters and life lessons that may just

), which will entertain you with the trials
of a couples counselor who is unlucky in love; and
Changement d’Adresse

Change of Address
),
about a musician who sleeps with his flatmate, although they are both attracted to other people.

Shura/Demons

Stark and intense,
Shura/Demons
has drama,
tragedy, terrible misunderstandings and a
twisted ending. It’s what you’d expect of a 1971
black-and-white film that centers on an exiled
samurai/nobleman out for revenge. The film,
helmed by the innovative Toshio Matsumoto,
also features elements of kabuki and noh theater.

Purple
August 2–18, 3pm/8pm
The show — which was successfully staged
in 1995 and 1998 — gets a makeover.
Audiences will enjoy the new cast, the new
script (thanks to award-winning Singaporean
playwright Goh Boon Teck), and the new
English and Mandarin songs. Based on
the true story of Singaporean transsexual
Maggie Lai, the performance is also made
brighter with a circus theme complete with
acrobatic stunts and even cotton candy.
But make no mistake about it:
Purple
is still
about spreading the message of acceptance,
overcoming prejudice and hardship, and
