he firm was newly established af-
ter the two Trondheim-based
companies Svenil and Øien & In-
dergaard merged. The merger was
a result of hard competition from eastern
parts of Europe, and a common interest to
grow bigger and cease new opportunities.
-
We are now one of few Norwegian
companies who are producing in this mar-
ket, which currently are dominated by
low-cost products from Eastern Europe,
says division manager
Stian Indergaard
.
SUBSTANTIAL INVESTMENTS
Indergaard & Svenil AS has now establis-
hed main office in Tiller, which is 13 kilo-
metres south of their office in Trondheim
city centre. In their new premises they
have invested 7 million NOK (Norwegi-
an kroner) in new and unique machine-
ry. This happens in a time where many of
their competitors are in decline.
-
While companies in Eastern Europe
currently have a comparative advantage
with their low-cost labour, but we can
see that their salary costs is rapidly ric-
ing. Having done some substantial invest-
ments, we believe that in a period of five
to seven years, we will be one step ahead,
says CEO
Svein Nilsen
.
LOTS OF CHANGES
Nilsen encourages costumers to support
different kind of production in Norway, ar-
guing that it will pay back later. His corpo-
rate partner, Indergaard, claims the same.
-
In our company we are constantly
aware of buying products from other Nor-
wegian companies, if that’s possible, even
though the product is more expensive, he
says.
They both have been working in their
area of business since they were little chil-
dren in the two nowmerged family firms.
-
Earlier it was many small companies
everywhere. We are now just a few surviv-
ing left, says Indergaard.
OFFERS “THE WHOLE PACKAGE”
Before the two companies merged, they
had different areas of specialisation. One
company in print the other one in signs.
Now they are offering their costumers “the
whole package” - everything from small
business cards to gigantic billboards. In
their customer portfolio you can find
some of the largest companies in Norway,
as well as private customers.
-
We find it special that we are one of
few companies in Norway who can do
the whole process of production. Most
of those operating in the market now, are
outsourcing larger parts of the job, says In-
dergaard.
