Super Mario
Perhaps more than any
other contemporary fashion
photographer, Mario Testino
is commi ed to capturing
the beauty of his subjects
rather than displaying his
own virtuosity. While not
averse to artistic flourishes,
Testino never loses sight of
what’s important: Angelina
Jolie’s eyes, David Beckham’s
chin. Through Feb. 3, Boston’s
Museum of Fine Arts show-
cases Testino’s work with “In
Your Face,” the Peruvian-born
photographer’s first U.S.
show. It takes audacity to
a empt to improve on what
nature provided Brad Pi
and Nicole Kidman, but
Testino manages to pull it
off. “I usually try to make my
images look like they just
exist,” he says, “like no effort
was put into it.”
