CAFÉ/BAR OWNER
ON THE LOCAL STYLE:
“There are plenty of different
scenes in Tokyo, from the
traditional to more high-end,
Western styles. But the Japa-
nese taste is not only about
outward appearance—it’s
kind of a spiritual thing, too.
Wabi-sabi
, you know?”
PERSONAL FASHION OUTLOOK:
“I like easy, rough-edged,
casual clothes—lots of vests
and sneakers. And what I try
to express with them is, like,
Wild, isn’t it?!
That’s my style.”
FAVORITE DESIGNER:
“These days I mostly shop at
[streetwear designer] Stussy,
but I like IsseyMiyake’s mens-
wear. I used to be a performer,
and Issey made my costumes
in his ‘Pleats Please’ style.”
WON’T LEAVE HOMEWITHOUT:
“A hat and sunglasses.”
