Camiguin,Philippines
SOMETIMES ONE VOLCANO
simply isn’t
enough. Sometimes you need more—seven,
for instance. And if so, Camiguin is your place.
A small, stunningly beautiful volcanic island
province northeast of Mindanao, Camiguin
offers a vibrant and hospitable native culture,
immaculate beaches, quiet nights, natural
hot and cold springs and plenty of great and
unusual diving opportunities (including,
rather eerily, a community graveyard that
sank during an eruption in 1871). The one
remaining active volcano, Mount Hibok-
Hibok, affords daring hikers breathtaking
views of the surrounding islands—but if its
steaming peak is a little too hot for you, visit
Katibawasan Falls, a serene (if very
cold
) 250-
foot cascade lined with orchids and lush ferns.
