Die Pizzerei

(
6 Bozner Platz, +43 512 583 796
)
Despite its name, which translates as ‘The Pizzeria’, this
restaurant offers a lot more than just an authentic Italian
slice. Try the heavenly risotto with zucchini, scampi and
burrata cheese, or veal escalope with rosemary potatoes.
Das Schindler
€€€€
(
31 Maria-Theresien Strasse,
+43 512 566 969
) Seasonal and regional products are
the base of chef Thomas Knittl’s cuisine. Try the venison
wellington served with mushroom paste, then treat
yourself to a bunch of homemade macarons for dessert.
Invinum
(
1 Innrain, +43 512 575 545
) If you have a passion
for wine, pop in to this cosy enoteca in the city centre
to taste some great Austrian vintages accompanied by
delicious paninis. You can also buy some to take home.
It’s not only about skiing in the winter in Innsbruck. At the
Olympia World
centre, you can also ice-skate, both
indoors and in the open. For a guaranteed adrenaline
rush, book a bobsledding tour on Olympic tracks with
professional pilots.

The warm, wooden interiors perfectly complement the
hearty food and wines on offer in what is one of Krakow’s
best Italian restaurants. Aubergine rolls with cheese are
one of the tastiest starters. Order the ravioli for mains.

This café is a sweet place to pick up breakfast. Pretty,
friendly staff serve eggs, cakes and coffee in candlelit
rooms. A splendid place to while away a morning or
afternoon with friends.
Dym
(
13 Ulica Sw Tomasza, +48 124 296 661
) It’s near
impossible to walk out of this easygoing saloon without
making a new friend. Smokers spill out onto the street
after a few vodkas, but it only adds to the charm.
The eerie
Nowa Huta district
, built as a socialist-realist
dream, is an interesting visit. There’s a signposted tour of
the area to follow, which ends on the very edge of the city,
overlooking Poland’s vast fields.
