THE LOWDOWN
Brand new this year, Unknown Festival
in Croatia is already shaping up to
be one of
the
festivals of the summer.
From the brains of heavyweight
purveyors of nightlife and festival fun
–
The Warehouse Project, Field Day
and Hideout Festival – the inaugural
event will take place in the stunning
beachside town of Rovinj,, three hours
from Zagreb. It was never going to be a
hard sell: blistering electronic and live
music playing to a backdrop of blaring
sun and clear blue seas. Count us in.
THE ENTERTAINMENT
The promoters have picked the cream
of 2013’s music scene, including BRIT
nominated Jessie Ware, Jamie XX, Four
Tet, electro-rockabilly band Django
Django and acronym-loving producers
SBTRKT and T-E-E-D. The acts – usually
better known for their studio tans and
playing dark basement clubs – will be
transported to a tops-off, outdoor party
scene, as everyone basks in the
late-summer sun and world-class
dance music.
THE VIBE
Unknown will play host to a crowd
who like their music cutting edge, their
parties hard and their downtime scenic.
Lining the festival beach resort are
three big stages – the Main, Pool and
Forest – where the action will take
place. There are also secluded wooded
areas, unexpected islands and
hammocks to be found. Camping-
phobes will rejoice, as all
accommodation is booked as part of
the tickets, so if you don’t fancy life
under canvas, you can also choose to
stay in an on-site hotel or an intriguing-
sounding Forest Lodge.
