Old Port and owned by Didier Cani, whose family has run
the restaurant for more than 100 years. Sitting at the
window, munching on slices of freshly baked
pissaladière
(
flat bread with anchovies, onions and honey) and sipping
a chilled glass of local Bodin Cassis white wine, you can
watch fishermen lug in the haul that will go into the
restaurant’s speciality seafood spaghetti.
It’s certainly something to look forward to after an
adrenaline-fuelled day spent traversing limestone cliffs,
the stunning backdrop of the Calanques only partly
offsetting the fear. I’m not surprised that this place has
captivated so many over the years.
For my guide, Le Loup, it holds a particular appeal.
This rock taught me everything,” he says, as we sit atop
the rocks and listen to the splash of the kayaks and
sailboats passing by, “and it’s given me everything to be
thankful for.”
