Marathons are so tedious – running 26
miles in one go is for masochists and
show-offs. Happily, a new kind of challenge
begins this month. Trekathons propose to
cover the same distance, but with a lot less
gasping and a lot more fun. Part city break,
part adventure weekend, the idea is to
complete a marathon-length hike around
one of Europe’s most vibrant cities in a single
day. The routes will take in all the major sites
and there’s always time for a liquid motivator
along the way. It’s not a race after all – how
tedious would that be?
