boutique apartments from designer Eric Vökel can only
be described as immaculate. Wooden floors, light paintwork
and “now” furnishings create a sleek, modern feel, while the
addition of homely extras, window shutters and patterned wall
panels mean the effect is anything but stark.
One of the first in the Danish designer’s collection of
boutique apartments – which have since popped up in
Madrid, New York and Amsterdam too – these Barcelona
boltholes have clearly been crafted with every care. The
bedlinen is so crease-free we wonder if it’s been ironed, while
each utensil fits as though placed lovingly by a homeowner.
Located on Barcelona’s Gran Via, in the middle of a lively
neighbourhood, these suites provide an oasis of Nordic
cool – the perfect respite after a day pounding the streets
of the buzzing Latin city. And, if you’re too tired to stay out,
the local markets provide the fresh ingredients for you to get
