it was around
the time we joined tables
with two hot hipsters that we realised a
fundamental truth about Stockholm: if
you’re planning on enjoying an all-night
threesome, there are few better places.
With blonde hair and blue eyes, Barchick was always
going to get on famously in Sweden’s capital – but before
you get any ideas, allow us to explain. While pokey dive
bars are the latest hit with party people from London to
Paris, in Stockholm the slogan might well be, “Three is
the magic number”. Hard-drinking denizens while away
their weekends in super-sized temples of indulgence
that are often three places in one, where you can eat,
drink and even do some shopping.
That’s howwe met our impromptu dates. Friday night
was already upon us and we were necking vodka in a
cute place called
Linje Tio
(
Line 10). Named after one of
the city’s metro lines, it’s part of a bigger
establishment,
Tjoget
(

),
which is
arguably the hottest ‘threesome’ in town,
comprising said drinking den, a
patisserie (Bisou Bisou) and a
barbershop (Roy & Son). Feeling more
than tipsy after the owners decided to
start showing off their mixology skills, we were more
than happy to share a table, and maybe more...
It had all started so sedately. Touching down at
lunchtime, our first mission had been food. Given that
the city is surrounded by water, fish felt appropriate, so
we headed to
Pontus
(

) –
the best
seafood bar in town, we’d been told. It certainly rocked
our boat, with three floors containing an oyster bar, a
cocktail bar and a dining room. There were cocktails
before, Champagne with the fish and wine with the
tapas, so things got a little hazy.
But by the time we ended the night in beautiful
townhouse
Nosh and Chow
(

),
we were
ready for yet another tri-partite party. N&C’s four floors
play host to an impressive bar and restaurant, but it was
the other side of the courtyard that really caught our
attention. With a tip-off from those in the know, we
headed for
Bernie’s
,
a private cocktail bar with an
invite-only policy. Partying with 80 people,
drinks flowed and music boomed until
the early hours. A lady never tells all,
but if this is what threesomes are like,
we may have to enjoy more of them.
