ALEXIS FERNANDEZ
30, DANCER
What’s your favourite local
restaurant? “Pata Negra – there’s
a great atmosphere in this Spanish
tapas bar, which has authentic food
and a huge list of Rioja wines
[
8 Kalvin tér; tel: +36 1 215 5616
].”
Your coolest shop? “Everything
I’mwearing is second-hand – it’s
a good way to find affordable,
individual clothes in an expensive
city. Humana is an alternative
and largely undiscovered place
to shop [
Dob utca
].”
Can you share a local’s tip? “I like
to travel by bike in the city. There
are more and more cycle paths,
so it’s quite safe, and you can get
everywhere much easier. You can
also leave the city for somewhere
quieter in no time at all.”
THEO
28, MEDIA DESIGNER
What’s your favourite local restaurant? “Rough around the edges but
always busy, Castro does great cheesecake and vegetarian food mixed
with Serbian specials [
3 Madách tér; tel: +36 1 215 0184
].”
Your favourite neighbourhood bar? “Telep is one of the best bars in the
area – it’s quite retro and has a different artist exhibiting their work each
month. The crowd is also cool [
8 Madách Imre út; tel: +36 30 633 3608
].”
Where do you like to shop? “Retrock Deluxe is by far the best shop in
the city. There’s a selection of modern and vintage clothes, but
everything is Hungarian – from the designers to the recycled
military outfits [
1 Henszlmann Imre utca; tel: +36 30 678 8430
].”
