I’VE BEENWORKING
in aviation
for about 15 years, but until last year
I worked for a long-haul airline. I loved
my job and felt privileged to be able to
see the world, but the time came when
I decided to start a family. Being away
for up to nine days at a time frommy
small children didn’t seem logical, so
I decided to find a job in short haul.
I was very excited to see easyJet
recruiting in Rome, where I live withmy
daughters, aged three and four, andmy
husband. I had friends who’d worked
for easyJet and spoken highly of the
company, so I decided to give it a go.
easyJet’s crew share a real passion
for flying. I’ve met some amazing
people whomake work entertaining.We
work very unusual hours and this career
isn’t for everyone, but with the right
attitude and a sense of humour, those
aspects aren’t issues. I love going to
work because it’s such a good laugh.
One clear night, for instance,
I was operating a flight across the
Mediterranean when I was called to the
flight deck by the captain. On opening
the flight-deck door, I was immediately
struck by a fantastic view of the full
moon with its reflection on the sea.
At that exact moment, the captain
and the first officer turned tome, both
with one arm stretched to greet me and
the other on their hearts, and began to
serenade me with the old Dean Martin
song
That’s Amore.
Their crazy singing,
along with the beautiful view, really
made me laugh.
Another funny thing happened to
me 14 years ago. I was working as a
cabinmanager on a flight to Rome.
After landing, I opened the aircraft door
and was met by a handsome Italian
aircraft representative. Fireworks flew,
the angels played their harps and a
bright light shone from above. He’s now
my husband of 10 years and the proud
father of our two beautiful daughters!
Apart from the fun and travel
involved, for me the best thing about
working for easyJet is that I can have a
balance between work and private life.
I can finally give both the dedication
that I feel they deserve.
easyJet is a young, dynamic
company that recognises the skills and
talents that its employees possess.With
the company’s expansion, I’m really
happy to be here and excited about the
future that lies ahead for me.
