Carrie Bradshop (

“A good selection of vintage
clothes and accessories. One of
the advantages of Lyon is that
vintage boutiques are a bit less
expensive than in Paris.”
◆
Les Poupées (
10 Rue
Romarin; lespoupees.com
) “For
clothes that are girlie but not
too much so, with a slightly off-
beat touch. You can find things
no one else is wearing.”
◆
Datta (
10 Rue Griffon;
datta.fr
) “This bookshop-cum-
gallery has beautiful books on
art and design, plus art, fashion
and lifestyle magazines.”
◆
Nyack (
7 Rue Auguste
Comte; nyackboutique.fr
) “A
boutique for women’s fashion,
with several of the little French
labels that I like at the moment,
such as Sessun, Swildens and
Patricia Blanchet.”

LYON
THE SHOPPING GURU
MARIE S
Originally fromDrôme in south-eastern France, Marie S
first arrived in Lyon as a student. After a stint in the press
and working for local publishers, she now attracts a growing
crowd of followers on her whimsical, on-the-ball blog
(
hautlesmainspeaudelapin.wordpress.com
), created in 2009.
“At the time, I was a freelance journalist and it gaveme the
chance to talk about the things that really pleasedme,” she
explains. “I talk a bit about nothing and everything: the
concerts, the shops and so on.” For Marie S, Lyon is more
relaxed and less stressed than Paris. “We’re not totally in the
south of France, but there’s a bit of that mood even so.”
Her shopping ground of choice is the Bas des Pentes
district that climbs up the Croix-Rousse hill behind the town
hall and Place des Terreaux. “Some of it looks pretty seedy,
but there are lots of original new shops that have opened in
the past two or three years.”
