I’VE BEENWORKING
for easyJet
for twoyears now, but I used tohave a
completelydifferent life. At just 13,
I enteredmyfirst bike race andwhen
I left school at 18, I became aprofessional
cyclist. Itwasmydream job; I competed
in twoOlympicGames and two
CommonwealthGames.
InOctober 2005, I was involved in
a hit-and-run car accident, and left with
a fractured spine. TheCommonwealth
Games were sixmonths away and
I had to learn towalk again, never
mind learn to ridemy bike, so it was a
huge achievement when I won bronze
in the 3,000mpursuit. I never gave
up and amproud to have proved that
anything is possible.
Having said that, when I look around
me nowand see that I havemanaged to
go fromprofessional athlete to easyJet
cabin crew, I’m just as proud. After I
retired fromcycling, I was travelling a
lot on easyJet and decided to check out
their job opportunities.
My typical day starts with a lie-in, as
I live just 20minutes frommy airport
base inParis. I drive a scooter towork
and usually arrivewith helmet hair –
luckily, most of my base are used to it.
One day is never the same as the next
– different crew, different passengers
and different destinations create
variation. I’vemet some amazing
peopleworking for easyJet. One cabin
manager I workwith on the recruitment
teamhas been here since the very start
of the airline – now that’s special!
I’moriginally fromKnutsford,
Cheshire, but I live in the suburbs of

love it when Fabien comes to theUK

My favourite destinations are
Liverpool andManchester, because
theymean that I’mgoing home to see
my parents. I love to fly toNicewhen
I have a fewdays off – the scenery is
stunning for some of themost amazing
cycling in theworld.
The athlete inme is always present,
looking for newchallenges, which is
why I love being part of a dynamic
airline. I think I will workwith easyJet
for a long time – I love the company and
I can’t imagineworking for anyone else.
