TRAVELLER
The hills are alive with the sound of music, laughter and merrymaking,
as winter festival season come to the slopes. But which one is for you?
Mountain High
The musical
accompaniment to
the British Snowboard
and Freeski Halfpipe
Championships, this
fest will serve up
anything, under an“if
it rocks, it’s in”policy.
DJ Yoda heads up this
year’s bill, which also
includes sets from
the Scratch collective
and DJ Cheeba, plus
a punk fancy-dress
night. More acts TBC,
but expect the remit
to be highly eclectic.

Maxwell’s
love-child is
taking the piste
by storm for
its fifth year,
bringing
quality
comedy to the
snow zone.
Far more than
just music, this
four-day festival
encompasses sporting
demonstrations in the
snow park and cultural
exhibitions day and
night, as well as music
across eight venues.
Great for proficient
intermediates,
although Mayhrofen
gets busy. The rest of
the Zillertal Super Ski
Area, which provides
639km of pistes,
including a glacier
and Vans Penken
snowpark, gives
plenty of variety.
Ahundredmiles of
pistes with views
of Mont Blanc and
the Matterhorn.
Unmissable.
With more than
650km of slopes
across the Portes du
Soleil ski area, there
are plenty of slopes
whatever your ability.
Punters will have good
reason to explore,
with gigs scattered
across 14 valleys.
With tracks from last
year’s Doggumentary
albumand plenty of
old favourites, Snoop
Dogg’s headline
appearance is sure to
be a crowd-pleaser.
Gorrilaz Sound System,
Julian Doré and Lamb
cover a variety of other
musical bases.
Knock, knock, who’s
there? Brits with a
SOH, mainly. Expect
to meet some pretty
funny people.
The resort’s high-end,
glitzy reputation,
less known to UK
skier, makes this a
top choice for an
international bunch
with money to spend.
This is the festival for
those who like to work
for their fun. Expect a
cultured Euro crowd
with bags of energy.
