“
i’ve lived in four
cities and it’s always good to
have a regular bar to go to. Somewhere that, even
if you’re on your own, you can just drop in and
you’ll know someone.
“
There are a lot of creative people who work in
Shoreditch and Dalston, and I’ve met many of them
in

Sometimes I hang out
there as much as three times a week. My studio is
just up the road, so if I’ve been working late and the
pubs are shut, I just come here.
“
It’s open from 10pm until 5am
on weekends, but it doesn’t liven
up until after 12. When it’s up
to the limit [about 70 people]
it does feel busy, but you can
always make it to the bar.
“
I mostly drink beer, but [bar manager]
Fabiano’s cocktails are really great. Every night
he does something different. He’s always testing
things, so it’s good to ask for the day’s special. My
favourite is The Latham, which is Bombay Sapphire
gin, Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc, St-Germain
elderflower liqueur and lemon juice.
“
The music is mainly hip hop, but there are
different themes. It’s not quite a club, but people
do dance. It’s a little more grown-up than other
places around here that are open
late, like the Dalston Superstore

that’s
more a full-on party. This is just
a really great place – a bit like
your living room with nice
people to hang out with.”
