An ideal beach companion, it’s
waterproof to a depth of 3m
as well as being dustproof and
able to soak up most forms of
maltreatment. The pistol-style
grip makes it easy to hold steady
with wet hands, though it’s hardy
enough to take a fall, should it
slip. It has loads of neat features
too, such as the cool slow-motion,
so you can savour the glory of a
wipeout almost frame-by-frame on
a big-screen TV afterwards.
All this does come at a price: it
lacks optical image stabilisation,
which means footage can be
jerky and it struggles in low-
light compared to conventional
models that only cost a bit more.
But who really expects their
film to resemble a Hollywood
blockbuster? At least with the
HX-WA20, you know you can keep
filming while plunging off a pedalo
into the water without ruining your
equipment.
