AS TOLD TO PIERRE DE VILLIERS. PHOTO GETTY
BEING AN ACTOR IS LIKE
doing the Tour de France. While making a film,
you tend to pass through these places without getting to know them.
We shot [historical drama]
A Royal Affair
in Prague and didn’t have much
time to explore. It’s a really beautiful place though.
I LOVED FILMING
Clash of the Titans
in Tenerife. It was just a massive
school camp for kids. You had these seven warriors wearing dresses and
carrying swords, and competition was the middle name of everything we
did. We were challenging each other in every imaginable form of contest.
I HAD A REALLY CLOSE CALL
during a motorbike trip in Denmark.
I own a 1937 Danish Nimbus motorcycle, which I find hugely cool. One
day, I crashed it into a car and flew over. Somehow I managed to flip in
the air and land on my feet. It might be the fact that I have a gymnastic
background or just pure luck, I don’t know.
MY WIFE AND CHILDREN
always choose where we go on holiday. I shut
up and they decide. Because I travel a lot in my professional life, I actually
enjoy just sitting on my bench at home in Copenhagen looking out over
nothing, but sometimes the family is desperate to go somewhere and I’m
like, ‘OK then, let’s go’.
I WOULD RELOCATE TO
LA for work. I have to face the fact that my
family have a life in Copenhagen and their friends are here, but if they
wanted to go on some sort of adventure with me, we would move.
IF I HAD THE MONEY,
I could easily take three years off and just do
sports. I would watch everything I could and participate in everything
I could. I love running, bike riding, playing football and tennis.
BEING CALLED A SEX SYMBOL IS
all relative. I guess they have to label
someone the sexiest person in the world and it is always someone who is
on telly. For a couple of years it was me and then it was someone else. I
always say it is better being the sexiest man than the most ugly.
