Cuisine de Bar
€15
(8 Rue Cherche-Midi,
tel: 01 4548 4569) The place to go for
tartines
– toasted, open-face sandwiches served
on
pain Poîlane
(the famed bakery next door) –
prepared to order at the counter and served hot.
Perfect for lunch.
Breizh Café
€30
(109 Rue
Vieille du Temple, tel: 01 4272 1377) The original
is in the Breton village of Cancale, and this Paris
outpost brings its Breton
nous
to the Marais,
serving delicious
galettes
(buckwheat crepes) and
Breton artisanal ciders. Foodies love it.
Chez Paul
€50
(13 Rue de Charonne, tel: 01 4700 3457)
For hearty French dishes, it’s hard to beat this
1940s-era bistro by the Bastille. There are no
surprises on the menu, just bistro classics well-
made with quality ingredients.
Le Bar de L’Hotel
(13 Rue des Beaux-Arts,
tel: 01 44 41 99 00) This hotel bar is all plush
velvet chairs and ornate Louis XIV decor, which may
be why Oscar Wilde chose to die here. A great spot
for a good drink and quiet conversation.
Le Klub
(14 Rue Saint Denis, tel: 01 42 36 26 99) From the
outside, Le Klub doesn’t look like much – just a small
Paris
black door. But once you’ve crossed the threshold,
prepare to be assaulted by live and unrepentant
rock’n’roll.
Le Showcase
(Pont Alexandre III, tel: 01
4561 2543) Party under the Alexandre III bridge at
this megaclub in a former boat hangar, open every
