Sicily’s Egadi Archipelago
Visit

for tourist information and accommodation.
Sicily’s Egadi Archipelago
, only a few kilometres west of Trapani, is comprised of three
main islands, Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo, and the islets of Formica and Maraone. The largest
of these is Favignana, home to 33km of magnificent coastline, and particularly easy to visit thanks to its
numerous flat roads, which are ideal for cyclists.
The smallest island, Levanzo, has a surface area of only five square kilometres. The ‘Genovese Grotto’ is
found here – a prehistoric cave complete with images of men, beasts and fish, which date back to the
Paleolithic and Neolithic eras. The jewel of the group is Marettimo, which the ancient Greeks considered
sacred. Green and rugged it is home to various species absent throughout the rest of Sicily.
