I’vebeenanAircraftMaintenance
Technician (AMT)withAmerican
Airlinessince2001andhavebeenbased
inourMiamihubsince2003. Ofour530
AMTswhoarebased inMiami, Iamone
of justsevenwhoarewomen.Aircraft
maintenance isstillapredominantly
male job,but that’schangingasmore
womenenter thefield.Thewomenand
menonour teamhave thesameskills.We
trustandrespecteachother.Andallof
us learn fromandsupporteachotheron
adailybasis. Iamsoproud torepresent
women in theworkforce.
Replacing landinggear, checking the
hydraulicssystemanddoingroutine
enginemaintenanceareamong themany
tasks thatmakeupmyday.AndIwant
ourpassengers toknow thatwhenI’m
