HowSheFoundOut:
“I foundmyown
breastcancerduringaself-examination.
Ihadamammogram thatwasnegative,
followedbyaneedlebiopsy thatwasalso
negative.However, Iknew therewas
somethingwrong.Asurgicalbiopsy is
howIfinallydiscovered it. Idon’t tell
thisstory toscarewomen,butrather to
encourage them to trust their instincts.”
HerReaction:
“Iwasshocked. Ihad
just lostmy fathertocancerthesame
weekendIwasdiagnosed.AndIopted
nottotellChloe,mydaughter,who
had just lostherbest friendtocancer
atage5.Unfortunately, Icouldn’t
protecthercompletely.OneofChloe’s
classmatesapproachedher inschool
andsaid, ‘Weheardyourmumhas
cancer.’Sheranhomeandasked,
‘Whydidn’tyoutellme,mum?
