My issue is that after buying a Hunter Universal ceiling fan remote (model 27208) for my new Hampton Bay ceiling fan (model 54-CL), the remote doesn't seem to work. SAFETY NOTE: Before you work on wiring devices, turn off the circuit breaker(s) or remove fuses associated with all circuits being worked with.
I hope this helps Ervinsean, let me know if we can do anything else to help you with your project! We do not have wiring diagrams readily available, 1-888-830-1326 or visiting their customer care website at: Hunter Ceiling Fans Customer Care. If your fan does not have pull chains on it then there is a possibility that your fan also had a fancier remote that came with it that was replaced.
It is common to have a remote to stop working after several years while the fan continues to work perfectly. Check the top of the motor housing for this reverse switch and write me back here and let me know if we are going to have to move on to plan B. The black and white wires on the LEFT side of the receiver will connect to the black and white from the electrical box.
I am trying to install a ceiling fan with light and remote.A like the transmiter below (image) post 341.A  I have three wires, 1 bk, 1 wht, 1 blue on one side and on the other 1 white and 1 blk, how do I connect them to the two wires from the cieling 1 whit and 1 blk and the three wires from the fan base 1 wht and 1 blk?

Ia€™m sorry to hear about your wiring issues, but we should be able to clear things up in a jiffy. The smaller a€?Fan outa€? should be connected to the black wire that comes out of your ceiling fan. Michelle asks: Please see the other wiring diagrams found in this section on wiring ceiling fans. The power still works on it and when I push the buttons everything registers on the remote however the fan is not responding. The fans in my bedroom and living room both have remotes but the reverse switch is on top of the motor housing on one of them and just above the light kit on the other.
It is a possibility that if someone else lived in your house before you, they could have replaced the old remote with a reverse switch with one without. Your voltage detector should be tested on a live circuit first to confirm that it is functional before use. The red a€?light outa€? should be connected to the (usually blue) wire coming out of your ceiling fan that leads to the light kit (if applicable).
The white a€?Common outa€? should be connected to the white wire coming out of your ceiling fan.A  If for some reason your fan does not have these colors please provide us with the UPC code (this can be found on top of the fan motor housing on a small inspection sticker.

You will need to change the switch that is typically behind the battery in the remote to a different setting on one of the fan remotes and then change the switch to the same setting on the transmitter in the canopy of the ceiling fan. If you feel that you lack the knowledge or skill to complete this project please call an electrician. With the a€?outa€? wires connected correctly we can narrow things down to the wires coming from your ceiling. The other black is probably a secondary hot line from a previous installation where a hardwired control for the fan and light was used.
Please be sure you have read and understand the installation instructions for your devices. You should have the white wire from your ceiling connected to the fatter white wire on the receiver, the green wire connected to the green screw, or green lead from your bracket, also tied into the green lead from the ceiling fan motor.
