In a not-so-distant study that appeared in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Professor Stephen Blair proposed that, “There is now overwhelming evidence that regular physical activity has important and wide-ranging health benefits.
So, the point is that even though we know THAT WE KNOW physical activity is the best solution to our epic health problems, we don’t want to believe it.
So, this is a landmark study that has beyond far-reaching implications that we’re only beginning to understand. So, if this was just the nudge you needed to put a stake in the ground today and decide to start, restart, or boost your physical activity routine, then don’t let anything stop you. Aside from allergens from food, exposure to other substances or objects may also cause hives to some people.
Return of Investment for Bariatric Surgery – weighing in the options for good returns. How much are we willing to pay for an improvement in health?  What if the initial “investment” put into surgery allows an actual return within several years, given the improvements in health and the consequent reduced treatment involved?
The benefits of weight loss have been well-documented, and those having gone through bariatric surgery having a lower long-term mortality, less medical problems (better control of diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and obstructive sleep apnoea), less need for follow-up medical consultations and medications.  As a result of these benefits, better employability has been demonstrated for job applicants of a lower BMI. These range from reduced risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers to enhanced function and preservation of function with age.

Why do we get fixated on the drugs, surgeries, and other extreme solutions to our health problems?

Many are mis diagnosed, fobbed off, dismissed and have been on an extraordinary roundabout of various treatments. This can cause many symptoms such as menstrual irregularities, unwanted and rapid weight gain, difficulty in losing weight despite lots of exercise and healthy eating, acne, unwanted facial and body hair, difficulties in falling pregnant and increased risk of miscarriage. This takes into consideration the medicinal side, a tailor made exercise program to best treat PCOS , nutritional and dietary ideas to suit your tastes and lifestyle and counselling to help with anxiety, depression and sleeplessness that so often accompanies PCOS. Some people with hives also complain of a burning sensation on the areas with the red swollen lumps.
Some people are allergic to dust or pollen from various flowers and when they are exposed to these things, their skin may react by producing the red lumps in hives. There you can try group exercise classes, fitness challenges and nutrition counseling for FREE! The biggest public health problem of the 21st century may, in fact, be physical inactivity.
I believe that evidence supports the conclusion that physical inactivity is one of the most important public health problems of the 21st century, and may even be the most important. Physical activity is the solution, and that can take many forms – exercise being one of them. It’s not uncommon for some people spend years doing this, and some people even spend a lifetime searching, when the true solution has been right under their nose the whole time. Fortunately there actually IS a decent amount of research attention on this now and in the past several years – the importance of reducing sedentary behavior, sitting less, increasing non-exercise activity, walking more, and so on, but unfortunately, I dont think that kind of research gets enough light of day.

I think the golden formula is combining some form of formal exercise program with additional physical activity – whether recreational, day-to-day NEAT, or otherwise. Self-esteem has often taken a beating through the years of despair of not knowing what is going on, feeling upset about many of the physical symptoms that you experience and embarrassment at having to deal with so many symptoms that society deems not acceptable for women. Our Health teacher taught us in High School that exercise is important in our daily routine because it lowers the risk of some diseases.
But if going to the gym, doing a home workout, or going for a run isn’t appealing to you, then there are a ton of other non-exercise activities you could be doing instead. And this new direction of research may eventually prove that it is, in fact, the most critical factor when it comes to improving our health, well being, and quality of life (and quantity of life, too, which is not a bad perk, if you ask me).
And in the weight loss world, I’m seeing an alarming increase in writers and dieters focusing only on calorie and food restriction and actually DIScouraging exercise and activity. For example, working out to maintain a healthy weight decreases a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure so going to the gym is highly recommended to everyone! And by simply participating in any of the activities, you get a chance to win a 3-MONTH GOLD’S GYM MEMBERSHIP! Chris at Conditioning Research had a great post on this phenomenon here: Gnosticism in Health and Fitness.
And no, not just at the Olympics, but at everything – how you perform at work, at home, at social events. It is logical to assume that for everything that physical activity helps (which is basically everything), physical INactivity undermines.
