Carbohydrates are necessary people! I’m so glad that the public is finally starting to realize this and ditch terrible low-carb diets (like Atkins). I often can’t go more than 2-3 hours without snacks or meals or a hangry meltdown will occur. The main of people with type 1 diabetes should be to increase the blood glucose levels and see that their body is not starved of it.
Common sources of food that our body converts to glucose include carbohydrates such as fruit, bread, pasta, and cereals. I’ve learned to pack my lunch everyday and carry snacks with me (such as trail mix) everywhere I go to prevent this. My trick has been to always bring one more snack than I think I’ll need to ward off any unwanted hangry emotions.
Even though I might not feel hungry I know I need something because my mood will be so bad – lol.

When the glucose enters the bloodstream it is either used immediately for energy or stored in the body to be used later.
Children with this disorder can overcome it by taking regular medications and leading a healthy lifestyle consistently. It can be done through making lifestyle changes and living with the disorder in an efficient way.
