How big is baby: Baby is the size of a small pumpkin this week and is seriously running out of room. What I’m looking forward to: I am still seriously crossing my fingers I go into labor soon. I am 39 weeks and 3 days, so I know what you mean when you say that this waiting game is a little exhausting (and slightly annoying)! Stretch marks: Ohh yes, those wretched things are back with a vengeance and it only took them one week longer than last time to appear!
Best moment this week: This is going to sound pretty silly but I actually really enjoyed baking over the weekend! Today is Mother's Day in the UK & Ireland, so Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there! On my nails is Barry M "Mist" nail paint from their new Silk collection - it's a pretty pearlescent baby blue shade (surprise surprise!). Emilia was not in the mood for pictures today so unfortunately this was the only one I could salvage! You can't really see my jewellery but I'm wearing my gold Scorpio necklace from my dad, Alex & Ani set of 3 gold bracelets and topaz birthstone bracelet. This picture is from the morning of my little sister Erika's 8th birthday (January 1st 2006). Erika & I actually just filmed the Sister Tag for my YouTube channel - so if you'd like to know a little bit more about us or just join in for some general sister silliness, you can watch the video below! I normally have Flahavan's Organic Quick Oats but we ran out this morning (doing the weekly shop tonight!) so I had the Golden Syrup variety which is absolutely amazing but unfortunately, full of sugar :( I don't have it very often but it tastes so good! We had lunch at Table Restaurant in Brown Thomas and I ordered my favourite - the goat's cheese salad. Throughout this entire pregnancy I've struggled with the worst heartburn, but it seems to hit the hardest in between lunch & dinner. Still, as today’s date has loomed, people have been asking more and more when I am due. What makes all of this even harder to swallow is that ever since my pregnancy bump started showing, people have been guessing that I will go early.
In the meantime, you can find me over here trying out all 40 ways to naturally induce labour… once I finish packing my hospital bag of course. Fun Fact: Cameron was born four days after his due date, though labour started at three days after. I think the hardest part about going over your due date (even though many women do go over) is the mental part of it. I feel so guilty because I feel like I no longer do a good job at soaking up my time with Cameron.
On the other hand, he has been turning into a real Mama’s Boy over the last few days, so maybe I am doing something right.
I will definitely try to focus on Cam and Mom time as we wait for Baby to make an appearance! 4 years ago, I had my girl 4 weeks early due to complications… and my dear friend and neighbor, who was due 2 weeks after me ended up going 2 weeks past her due date.
This time around, as she watches my belly expand way past where it was with my first, she just laughs with me. I admit, it is really hard to see someone who was due around the same time as me already get to hold their baby. I know how you must feel because I remember, every fibre of my being was convniced that wed morning, that the day would not end without labor and or a baby – it was not ALLOWED (but that labor must wait till afternoon as I had a much anticipated playdate that mroning).
I’m keeping these suggestions for next time, I epsiecally love the simple food things! Also, they are calling for another serious snow storm here in Philly today – did I mention I haven’t been able to button up my jacket in 2 months? I have been making a slight effort to eat more spicy foods, in an effort to kick start labor, but it hasn’t worked yet.

Charles knows that the first few days we are back from the hospital we will be having both of these glorious things! I have had contractions since I was 30 weeks, so every time I feel one that hurts a little more I think that maybe I am going into labor. Here we are at the last bump update :) I am officially 40 weeks pregnant - today is the due date!
Thankfully they are still only in the one area (around my bellybutton) but I have gotten more this week :( The reason I can tell is because the old ones are white, whereas these new ones are blue-ish.
I have to say this stuff is good quality - it's still going strong right now with very minimal chipping! I made Dark Chocolate Chip Mascarpone ones from my Betty Crocker Big Book of Cupcakes recipe book. I don't usually like metallic nail polishes but these silk ones are a lot younger & fresher looking!
She is also going through a Minnie Mouse phase right now which I think is so bizarre because she has never watched her on TV! I actually wore a variation of this outfit quite a lot during my last pregnancy, so here I just switched a few things up to suit the cooler weather. It makes me laugh so much at how grumpy & unenthused Emma & I look, while Erika is clearly VERY excited! Generally I've felt so awful by late afternoon I haven't been able to stomach any food but this week it finally seems to have died down a little bit!
Because even though everyone knows that babies are rarely born on their actual estimated date of delivery, a due date feels more like an expiry date than anything else. I find myself getting frustrated when women or doctors try to rush a body’s natural inclination to allow labour to start and progress on its own.
I started showing early labour signs with Cameron around 35 weeks and had started to dialate around 37 or 38 weeks.
As a work at home mom, she blogs about life at home with her husband Dan and three sons Cameron (age 5), Gavin (age 3), and Logan (age 1).
I so look forward to our post-nap snuggles because they are pretty much the only time we are able to do something close, where he is willing to sit still and I don’t have to expend too much energy. I did a few weeks before Cameron was born (although the place I went was VERY careful not to do anything that would induce labour.
I was 3 days early with #1, and already dilated at 36 weeks, my doctor is sure I might go a little early and quickly, which is okay with me! Because, yes, when you’re this large and uncomfortable, sometimes all you can do is laugh.
It is seriously a roller coaster of crazy emotions – everyone in my family is on the edge of their seats waiting for The Call! I know he is all warm & comfortable in my baby bump but we are all really hoping he decides to come out and play sooner rather than later! Unfortunately, baby "Junior" has decided he isn't ready to make an entrance yet so we are still waiting. The leggings aren't maternity but were always too big and I'm wearing one of my Boob nursing tops that doubles up as a maternity one. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that they fade afterwards because no matter what anyone else says, stretch marks are NOT a fun aspect of pregnancy!
Although my second pregnancy was definitely harder, I think that's pretty normal and I did still enjoy it :) I hope you guys will continue to follow along with my postpartum journey and although the bump updates are finished I will do my best to keep Mommy Mondays a regular series on my blog.
When I was in Brown Thomas I got another tub of my regular moisturiser, Estee Lauder Daywear and one of the new Luxe brush heads for my Clarisonic.
Especially the Ritz ones - the combination of sweet & salty is like a party in your mouth!
I had actually baked these before in a huge single cupcake version, as a birthday cake for my mom!
I even tried playing some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & Minnie's Bow-tique for her and she wasn't that interested.

I even get emotional buying clothes for our baby boy, knowing that in a few months they'll be too small! So by 5 o'clock I was hungry again and reached for some red grapes and an organic vanilla yoghurt. For forty weeks we look forward to this date, we count down to this date, we repeat this date over and over.
Babies are considered full term at 37 weeks but it is generally thought that they can stay safely inside of Mama until 42 weeks. There is without a doubt a point in which labour needs to be coaxed medically if it isn’t happening, but too often I see this happening earlier than I believe is necessary. I went into labour on my own, but still needed to be induced after my body failed to progress. When she has time, she can be found reading, writing, snapping photos, or awkwardly running. I almost wanted to hang onto pregnancy for as long as possible because I knew that he and I were experiencing such a special bond that could never be replaced.
It took me nearly five weeks, broken waters, and a pitocin drip to get me from 1 cm to 10 cms.
Even though I know this baby will be here sometime within the next 2 weeks, this past-due period is some weird mental vortex that feels like FOREVER when we’re in it.
A little update on my membrane sweep which I had last week - well, obviously it was unsuccessful but I also kind of knew it would be after my doctor's visit because he said baby's head wasn't fully engaged yet and he still had a bit more to go.
I have my last doctor's appointment on Tuesday by which stage if the baby hasn't come already we will be planning the induction date!
My mom got Emilia's jumper from DPAM (one of my favourite kids' clothing shops!) and her leggings are from Zara Mini. Today is when I simply must give everything over to the natural rhythms of my body and pray that I will go into labour on my own, when I am ready. Laura has been recognized as one of Canada's Top 10 Mom Bloggers by multiple publications, including Reader's Digest.
He would be born and then he would spend the rest of his wonderful life growing up and away. Normally 2 weeks is a short period of time but for me right now it feel like it might as well be 2 years. I left my appointment feeling a little bit disheartened but at least I knew not to get my hopes up. Every time she sees her face anywhere she shouts "MINNIE!!" It's so cute :) So as you can imagine she was pretty happy with this outfit today. Ha ha ha, Emilia is obsessed with grapes & kept trying to steal them while I snapped photos! Maybe I’ll convince myself that enough Mango Pineapple smoothies from McDonalds will have the same effect, but I am pretty sure that is not how it works. Relish the days you have to just soak up Cameron before a 4th person changes the family dynamic!
But sharing those two years of growing with him has been so exciting that I just want to start that process with this new baby.
I should be assuming that this baby will be born sometime in April, but not necessarily by, or even around April 18th. I want to meet this baby and find out if we are having a boy or a girl and decide on a name and I do want to share this new baby – especially with the big brother who is waiting patiently with me.
Just as well I bought extra ingredients so I am going to make more frosting today to finish the other 10 I have left-over!
