Fertility treatment over 45,facts about pregnancy and smoking, what to eat when your 9 months pregnant nausea - Easy Way

NHS IVF treatment is never far from the news and sometimes these stories can be of concern to those trying to conceive, especially if it raises concerns over funding. Bourn Hall Clinic is one of the five providers of NHS-funded treatment in the East of England and it is our understanding that the existing East of England contract will be replaced later this year. We do not know the timing or content of the new contract.  The current level of provision follows the NICE guidelines for IVF. The East of England is fortunate as patients have access to one of the highest quality fertility services in the UK.
If you are registered with a GP in one of the six counties of the East of England (Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk or Suffolk) and meet the eligibility criteria, then currently you are able to benefit from funding for three fresh cycles of IVF.
IVF is a specialist treatment and patients in the East of England are given a choice of five providers, including Bourn Hall Clinic, with the skills and expertise required to achieve excellent success rates. If you have been trying to conceive for three years or more or know of a reason why you might have problems getting pregnant, then your first step is to contact your GP.
For the man this would involve providing a sperm sample to analyse sperm count and quality.  A woman could expect tests to check her hormone levels and see if her reproductive system is working correctly.
If IVF is considered appropriate then you can choose to have IVF at one of the five providers Bourn Hall Clinic, Barts and the London Centre for Reproductive Medicine, IVF Hammersmith, Leicester Fertility Centre and the Oxford Fertility Unit. Funding is complex as it varies across the country for example Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes and counties in the East Midland have different provision to the East of England.
It can also be confusing, for example the NHS unit at Cambridge IVF has over the last two years started to offer some of their Cambridge-based private patients IVF treatment.  It cannot however offer IVF to Cambridge NHS patients, as it was not selected to provide IVF when the original East of England NHS contracts were agreed. Fortunately, Bourn Hall is just a short drive from Cambridge and is the world’s first IVF clinic drawing on over 30 years of experience.  It continues to innovate and has excellent success rates with one Bourn Hall baby born every ten hours. London, Sep 29 : Certain types of In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment may enhance odds of having a boy.
The discovery was made by Australian researchers, who believe that the IVF process may be affecting the sex ratio. Although the reasons remain unclear, the researchers suggested it could be because male embryos may in some way be better equipped to survive the process, reports the Daily Mail. They warned that more research is needed to ensure a serious imbalance of male to female children does not develop as IVF becomes increasingly common.

Study leader Michael Chapman from the University of New South Wales said there was no question of the ratio being manipulated by IVF clinicians.
Deliberate sex selection is banned in Australia, as it is in Britain except in very specific circumstances, such as to avoid gender-related hereditary disease. Chapman said laboratory methods may be responsible for the imbalance, particularly the substance in which embryos develop in the test tube. Researchers studied all live births following fertility treatment in clinics in Australia and New Zealand between 2002 and 2006. In total, 13,368 babies were born to 13,165 women who underwent the transfer of a single embryo, says the study.
It also has fertility programmes including egg donation and egg sharing, sperm donation and surrogacy. These fertility therapies produce good results for women with functional fallopian tubes and no clear reason for infertility.
