The course follows a tried and tested programme that has been used for over thirty years with great success.
For complete beginners, the initial series of sessions concentrate on sharpening, hand tool technique etc., and applying these skills to guitar neck construction, soundboard, ribs and back preparation, ready for the instrument to be constructed in subsequent classes. Every student works at a different pace, but with prior woodwork experience and regular attendance, it is possible to make a full guitar in one year (30 weeks). This course is aimed at individuals with no prior experience, who have a desire to build their own musical instrument.
Continue to learn the art of guitar making for those who wish to build upon previous knowledge. If you've already completed another guitar making course and want to take your knowledge of guitar repairs further, this course lets you set your own targets.
You should plan to complete a guitar in a style of your choice and develop your repair skills.

Ideally you'll have completed our other guitar making courses or have equivalent experience.
Included in the course fee though you might want to buy your own tools to help you practise and develop at home. Set up your own business as a guitar maker and repairer or take another of our musical instrument making courses. The evening course runs in blocks of ten weeks and is designed to allow participants to build upon the skills necessary to build guitars. You'll continue to develop a wide range of repair and restoration skills through more challenging projects such as building an electric guitar and gain the practical knowledge you need to work in this specialist industry.
