Minority students represent 57 percent of the population in a€?dropout factoriesa€? a€” schools where the senior class has 60 percent or fewer students who entered as freshmen a€” but only 30 percent of the population in all schools.
Fewer black students have access to a full range of high school math and science courses a€” algebra I, geometry, algebra II, calculus, biology, chemistry and physics.
