Bee stings are either exasperatingly painful or deadly a€“ depending on whether the victim is allergic to the venom.
Localized a€“ a localized reaction results in swelling that normally spreads further than the sting site. Normally severe reactions that are allergic in nature arena€™t common, but when they do happen they can cause shock, unconsciousness and cardiac arrest in approximately 10 minutes.
Severe allergic sting reactions should be treated with epinephrine or adrenaline, either administrated by a medical professional or self-injected. Calamine lotion with an analgesic or Caladryl can calm the pain and itching of a bee sting within approximately 45 minutes. Maximum strength hydrocortisone cream reduces the symptoms in about an hour and should be used every 3 or 4 hours. Chamomile is known to be an anti inflammatory and also helps in soothing the skin, thereby relieving the swelling and pain caused due to gout. A combination of herbs like birch, ginkgo biloba and red clover is known to be very effective for treating gout. The herbs mentioned here are very simple and can be used long term for prevention of gout as well as treating the symptoms. A tea prepared from celery seed can be used for preventing gout inflammations and also for eliminating uric acid deposits in the body. Bilberries are rich in anthocyanins and are also high in antioxidant properties that are both beneficial for the treatment of gout. The root of dandelion can be used for treating gout as it is a great herb for improving kidney function and helping in better elimination of toxins from the body. St John’s wort helps in reducing the swelling and acts as a pain reliever as well for gout patients. Ginger is an anti inflammatory agent and a natural pain reliever and can be used a simple yet effective remedy for treating gout attacks. An individual can easily deal with various symptoms of ant bites with the use of different remedies.
Lemon juice can be used as a home remedy for ant bites. Direct application of lemon juice on the ant bite can help in removing the poison and reducing the burning sensation. The symptoms associated with an ant bite can also be treated with the use of aloe vera gel. You can place a fresh onion slice on the affected area to obtain relief from the redness and swelling resulting from an ant bite. You can directly apply a paste created with the use of meat tenderizer and water on an ant bite to cure swelling, itching and burning sensation. You can apply lavender  or eucalyptus essential oil on the affected area to reduce the swelling from an ant bite. Application of finely grated raw potato on the affected area can also help in dealing with various symptoms of an ant bite.
Gout is generally caused by factors such as consumption of a diet rich in purine, intake of alcohol and kidney diseases.
Drinking dandelion tea prepared by boiling dried dandelion in water can also help in the excretion of uric acid from the body.
Bromelain can be used to obtain relief from the pain and inflammation associated with gout.
An individual can create a tonic by boiling turmeric powder (4 teaspoons), black pepper powder (1 teaspoon), coconut oil (1 teaspoon) and lemon juice (1 teaspoon) in water and consume this tonic several times in a day to cure staph infection. Turmeric powder can also be applied on the affected area to reduce the staph infection.
An individual can apply a mixture created with the use of tea tree oil (1 tablespoon) and honey (2 teaspoons) on the affected area and cover it with a cloth bandage to treat staph infection. It is important to change the bandage after every 3 to 4 hours to prevent the growth of staph infection.
Goldenseal has antibacterial properties. A solution can be created by mixing goldenseal powder in water and used for washing the affected area several times in a day to treat various symptoms associated with staph infection. An individual can apply crushed garlic cloves on the affected area to deal with staph infection. A mixture created with the use of witch hazel and water can be used to wash the affected area on a frequent basis to reduce the inflammation resulting from staph infection. An individual can apply a paste created by mixing the ginger powder and salt in manuka honey on the affected area to reduce the staph infection. An individual can apply a juice extracted from fresh basil leaves on the affected area to treat various symptoms associated with staph infection. Basil oil can also be directly applied on the affected area to obtain the desired results. Applying oregano oil on the affected area multiple times in a day can help in curing the inflammation and pain resulting from staph infection. All valid – but Staph infections can be caused by very resistant bacteria and can be extremely serious (and has lead to death).
Xylitol dissolve phlegm which bacteria and viruses hide in—I suspect they then starve without the slime protecting them and possibly feeding them.
I now soak and spray my eczema on my legs and arms in Xylitol and this has taken away the pain, sting, different soreness, etc and cleared up my eczema.
To repeat: I do believe that viruses and bacteria hide in slime, phlegm, and once exposed the body can deal with them, or maybe they die of starvation and exposure. Also where did you get the information from to use xylitol as a prevention method for bacteria and viruses?
Obstructive salivary gland disease can affect the very young all the way up to the elderly so it is not really a specific patient population. This is because the duct (a long tube), which normally secretes saliva into the mouth, becomes blocked by either a stone or by the tightening of that tube.
It is usually diagnosed today when the patient experiences pain and swelling and goes to see their physician or local ENT physician. If the stone is small enough and they can feel it with their fingers, they even try to manually manipulate it out of your duct. Predominantly the obstructive disease is caused by stones that are lodged in there, but you also have strictures which are tightenings of the tubes or the ducts. Historically it has been mostly a conservative approach because they didn’t want to go to the surgical approach because they knew of all the complications that can occur.
What risks are involved with invasive open surgery to treat obstructive salivary gland disease? Please can you outline the suite of salivary duct access products that Cook Medical has recently launched that offer minimally invasive options for the treatment of obstructive salivary gland disease? We are really excited about this as we feel that we can advance the minimally invasive procedure and give both clinicians and patients an option.
Then we have our Kolenda introducer set, which comes in after we have dilated the salivary duct, to put into the duct to maintain the access so we can pass the instrumentation in the duct during the entire procedure.
We also have our nitinol extractor baskets which allow us, once we’ve accessed the duct and maintained access using the introducer, along with the endoscopes to go in and take out and retrieve the stones that are inside the ducts. Even though it was pioneered in Europe this procedure has started to be performed over the past 4 or so years in North America.
Is there a learning curve associated with using Cook Medical’s salivary duct access products? What impact do you think Cook Medical’s salivary duct access products will have on the treatment of obstructive salivary gland disease? I think we have the ability with not only these first introduction products that will start off by helping physicians more readily access these ducts, but I think that because in the pipeline we have several more products that are going to be released over the next 6months to 1 year, we have the ability to advance this procedure to the next level where more patients will be able to be treated. So there are some limitations to the procedure but with the developments that we have in the pipeline we believe we are going to take this innovative approach to the next level. We’re developing more interventional tools to help complete the procedure and broaden the patients that can be treated through more minimally-invasive salivary endoscopy.
The future is certainly bright. We have a pipeline that is full to meet the unmet clinical needs in this patient population. Cook is energized about this new clinical division and educating patients as well as clinicians about what we can do to help advance these procedures so that more patients can be served. There can be nothing more distressing than getting swollen gums and realising that your teeth and gums may be in some sort of danger. If you have been to your dentist in the past week or so, it may be possible that you have had some invasive treatment and that this is the root cause of your gums swelling.
By far the biggest and most obvious cause of swollen gums, is damage due to the build-up of harmful bacteria in your mouth. In spite of what the adverts might say – your regular toothpaste and mouthwash are not helping to control your oral bacteria. As you may know – roughly 75% of all adults worldwide, suffer from some degree of gum disease during their lives. If Gingivitis is left untreated it is only a faily short journey to full-blown Periodontal Disease which is the most severe form of the condition.
Periodontal disease can mean badly receded gums and lost teeth and nobody wants to go down that route.
It’s important to understand that your dentist should be a regular part of maintaining your teeth in a healthy condition. However, when it comes to gums, your dentist is unable to actually prevent any problem you have from returning again and again. He or she will likely suggest more flossing and regular use of a fluoride toothpaste as well as a proprietary brand of mouthwash.
When things deteriorate further – your dentist will try deep cleaning techniques and even gum surgery. Unless you deal with the underlying problem of your oral bacteria which causes the majority of these gum problems – your gum disease will simply return and your time and money will have been wasted. Swollen gums, sore and painful gums, red gums, bleeding gums and receding gums are all symptoms of gum disease.
Over the past few years, many people have successfully used a completely natural product called Dental Pro 7 to treat severe gum disease problems. Dental Pro 7 is made by a small specialist manufacturer who ships this natural remedy all over the world with same-day dispatch. Dental Pro 7 destroys the bacteria in your mouth and reduces the plaque caused by the bacteria.
Any gum disease you have will be halted and the resulting damage reversed, so long as you follow the directions carefully.
By throwing out your existing toothpaste and mouthwash (just like I did) and replacing it with Dental Pro 7 you will be able to stop, recerse and control your gum disease – no matter how advanced or chronic it has become. And if you doubt that – Dental Pro 7 comes with a full unconditional, money-back guarantee. Chamomile is also good for easy and efficient digestion of proteins and this will prevent uric acids from getting deposited in the joints due to excess protein intake as in the case of meat products. This herbal tea helps in elimination of toxins from the body by acting as a diuretic and prevents uric acid deposits from causing gout attack. They mostly aim at detoxification of the body and reducing the levels of uric acid deposits in the joints, which is the main cause of gout attacks. For preparing the tea, take 2 teaspoons of celery seeds and add to one cup of boiling water.
The anthocyanins that are present in bilberries help in increasing the flow of blood to the area of swelling and this will reduce the pain and swelling considerably. Nettle is also rich in potassium, which will prevent uric acid crystallization in the joints. Dandelion is also a good source of vitamin C and this will help in boosting the immunity and also in melting the uric acid deposits in the joints. Their tiny claws allow them to attach tightly to people and animals. As these tiny mites can only be seen with a magnifying glass, it’s difficult to see them with the naked eye and prevent getting bitten. You can prepare a paste with the use of clay and water and apply this paste on the ant bite to reduce the burning sensation and itching.
Frequent application of aloe vera gel on the affected area can reduce the swelling and itching from an ant bite. Application of this paste on the affected area 3 – 4 times in a day can give the desired results. Intake of parsley on a regular basis can help in reducing the swelling resulting from gout.
It is important to consume this herb under the supervision of a health consultant if an individual is taking blood thinning medicines.
A tea prepared by boiling eucalyptus oil (4 – 5 drops) in water (1 cup) can also be consumed to obtain the desired results.
After my body has mostly dried I then coat it with a quality olive oil which soaks in pretty quickly. I am not a scientist, but the fact that I have been free of colds and flues certainly indicates something right is going on.
She is now fifteen, about five+ years on the BARF (Bones and Raw Foods~meat and fact, some ground up veg). Best to do one’s own studies and to question everything a medical doctor and big corporations recommends. It occurs twice as often in males as it does in females, but it is very similar to kidney stones as well where sometimes it can just be hereditary.
Any time you put something in your mouth your salivary glands produce saliva so you can help chew your food. We had a conversation with one of our physicians in North America this week who has patients that won’t even go out to eat at dinner with friends because it is too painful and they are embarrassed. When you are removing a salivary duct in your cheek you have the potential for hitting the very vital structures – particularly the nerves in your face. You have these two major ducts that are in your cheeks but you also have two major ducts that are in your jaw – on the lower floor of your mouth. One of the most challenging parts of performing a procedure that is minimally invasive with these very small endoscopes is actually accessing these very small salivary ducts.
The small instrumentation with our guidewires helps us to get in and then we have our dilator set which allow us to open up the papilla (opening of the salivary duct) so it widens and opens up that area.
We worked particularly closely with one of the inventors of the introducer - Dr Jack Kolenda from Toronto, Canada. It is a very young procedure – it was invented and pioneered in Europe, particularly in Germany because a company that is based in Germany that makes endoscopes made an endoscope that was small enough to go into these ducts.
Where Cook comes in and where we differ is that we make the disposable devices that can help advance the procedure. The limitations are that if there are stones that are larger than the salivary duct in North America there is no FDA approved product that is commercially available to help fragment those stones . We are starting off with the accessing the duct, but where we are going next is the therapeutic interventional tools. We began commercialization with this new clinical division in March of last year; we are already expanding into the UK and Germany markets as we speak. We certainly expect to expand over the next 3-5 years and bring these devices and minimally invasive tools to help address these patients’ needs.

In fact – due to their abrasive artificial chemical composition your usual brands of toothpaste and mouthwash usually make the situation far worse than it need be.
This is a more severe form of gum disease and comes with a number of unpleasant and uncomfortable symptoms. And this need never happen, because a simple change of your personal dental routine and daily maintenance will fix the problem.
All advice which is endorsed by the American Dental Association (ADA) and similar bodies worldwide. These treatments are painful and very costly but importantly – they will not get rid of your gum disease.

However, as some herbs are known to interfere with certain medications and other conditions that you could be suffering from, it is always best to consult a herbalist in such matters rather than rely on hearsay and use the herbs without monitoring. Steep for ten minutes and take it every day to keep the uric acid levels in the body minimal. Dried roots powder can be used for making a tea or capsules or liquid extracts can be taken as per the directions of your naturopath. You can also use the herb as an ointment for topical application of the affected area for great relief from inflammation. However, bilberry extracts must be taken with care as it can cause hypoglycemia and bleeding in patients who have diabetes or who are on blood thinning medications.
Dandelion root tee can be prepared by adding a teaspoon of the dried root powder to a cup of boiling water and infusing it for fifteen minutes before drinking it.
The most common symptoms include intense itching, swelling, rashes and red bumps on the skin.In most cases, chigger bites are not harmful to your health. Its numbing effect helps reduce the sensation of itchiness.Wrap some ice cubes in a thin cloth. Consult with your doctor or other health care provider before using any of these tips or treatments. It is important to wash the affected area with cold water to obtain relief from the burning sensation that may result from an ant bite.
Consumption of parsley supplements can also provide the desired results by flushing out excess uric acid from the body.
Another alternative is to apply a paste created by mixing a lesser amount of apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper. Therefore, regular consumption of turmeric can help in reducing the inflammation resulting from the problem of gout.
This tea may help in improving the digestion of proteins which may result in the dissolution of uric acid. Common causes of staph infection include a weak immune system, skin problems and so on. Further, staph infection is mainly caused by staph bacteria which usually enters through a cut on the skin.
I continue this protocol as I think it helps keep my skin moist and healthy; protecting it from drying out and further attacks or the return of my problem. And that the pain in eczema sores are relieved suggests again, that I am on the right track. She is loosing her hind quarters, which is a problem with the breed; but which usually starts out much earlier than it does with most Corgis. I just know that where I used to get two to three bouts of colds a year, and the odd flue within a five year period, Xylitol has been a blessing. Most know little about health but a great deal about illnesses, so best to avoid illness and Meds through natural means.
These types of stones and strictures occur not nearly as frequently as kidney stones but they still occur quite often. Thus every time you eat, the gland is trying to produce saliva but the saliva can’t go anywhere, this causes pain and swelling. There are some select centers in North America that are using ultrasound to diagnose obstructive salivary gland disease as well. If it is swelling, they’ll be given medications, such as steroids, to decrease swelling. There are facial nerves that run all along your face and one of the common complications of this procedure is facial paralysis.
When they have to remove those they have to surgically open up the floor of your mouth, which is a highly sensitive area. You can imagine the salivary ducts are very small – the largest size of these ducts is only about 5mm in diameter. There is a training session upcoming at a medical conference in Orlando in the middle part of April and another at an university hospital in Chicago in mid-May. In the kidney stone world there is shockwave lithotripsy which helps break up those stones, but that is only available in the urinary system in the kidneys, that is not available a in North America for the salivary glands. We are going launching our new products in Europe during another conference at the end of April.
Chamomile oil can be used for massaging on the swollen joints as well in order to facilitate relief and recovery.
For making the herbal blend, take one part birch leaf, one part red clover flower or leaf and one part ginkgo biloba. This herbal tea may not be good for people with kidney trouble due to its diuretic properties. Celery seeds capsules are taken by some patients with gout and many have reported immediate relief from inflammation and pain associated with gout.
Nettle is also rich in vitamin C, which is known to reduce the levels of uric acid in your body by about 50 percent. Nettle also possesses antihistamine as well as diuretic properties that will help in the flushing out of toxins and removal of swelling from the affected site.
The tea can be taken twice daily to reduce the uric acid deposits in the body and prevent gout attacks.
It is important to note that the application of cayenne pepper may result in a burning sensation.
Turmeric should be used as per the instructions of a medical practitioner as it can increase the effect of blood thinning medicines. But taking a Tbsp full in the mouth, and constantly swishing it around, started pulling out phlegm from my mouth. The latest data we have seen showed about 1 in 5,000 patients actually have some type of obstructive salivary duct disorder. When they see that it is a stricture they’ll either put some medications in there or put some of our dilators in there to open up those strictures. There is a 35% chance of facial paralysis with traditional surgical techniques to treat obstructive salivary gland disease.
You actually have to use a microscope to see into the mouth and identify where these salivary ducts are located. Chiggers usually bite around the waist, ankles or skin folds. It takes about 1 to 3 weeks for chigger bites to heal.
Take a break and repeat if needed to relieve itching.Soaking the affected area in cool water may also help alleviate the itching. On the other hand, chronic gout may affect more than one joint and is characterized by inflammation and pain. Therefore, this paste is required to be removed immediately if an individual experiences pain after the application. Soaking the affected area in this tea (after it has cooled down) may also provide effective results. Hot ShowerOnce you are aware of being bitten by chiggers, the first line of defense is a hot shower. It even reduces the risk of infection.Add 1 cup of baking soda to a bathtub filled with cool water. After many pulling the amount of phlegm began to lessen after two days, and was back to normal after a few more days.
Vicks Vapor RubOnce you have taken the hot shower, the next step is to look for a jar of Vicks vapor rub. This common product in your medicine cabinet can put an end to itchy chigger bites immediately. Do this once daily.Alternatively, prepare a thin paste of 2 teaspoons of baking soda and a little water.
It’s the cooling menthol in it that relieves itching by affecting itch receptors in the skin. OatmealOatmeal contains anti-irritating, anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that provide instant relief from itching, one of the common symptoms of chigger bites. Apple Cider VinegarApple cider vinegar has antiseptic and anti-itching properties that help get rid of itching as well as inflammation and swelling.Add 2 cups of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar to lukewarm bath water.
Do this once or twice a day.For localized itching, apply raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar directly on the affected areas using a cotton ball.
