This course is HSENI Approved and is for anyone who wants to receive training in emergency first aid.
The Emergency First Aid at Work course will allow you to apply basic first aid techniques to a variety of situations from conscious to unconscious casualties as well as dealing with breathing and non-breathing casualties.
It is accredited by Qual Safe and on successful completion of the course and continual assessment, the delegate will receive a Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. CommunityNI is developed, managed and hosted by NICVA - Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action.
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. If, having assessed first-aid needs, an employer decides to appoint first aiders, the first aiders must have a valid certificate of competence. An IRATA Level 1 technician will be able to perform a range of rope access manoeuvres and have an understanding of the current legislation. Assessment: Independent assessor will assess on a written multi choice question paper and practical examination. The training will be over 4 days with the 5th day being an assessment by an independent assessor. Ideally, all prospective employees should be in possession of an appropriate full industrial medical certificate before starting this kind of work and should be re-assessed at regular intervals thereafter.
This half day course is designed for all employees who use substances hazardous to health at work. It introduces candidatees to substances, the risks and controls available and outlines what to expect from a COSHH Assessment.
The course will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in their workplace.

This is specifically suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.
The course was designed with everybody in mind; it’s easy to understand and includes a lot of practical exercises. According to the OHS Act of ’93 you need at least 1 first aider and one first aid box for every 50 employees. These regulations apply to all workplaces, including those with five or fewer employees, and to the self-employed. For regulatory purposes, successfully completing an EFAW course will enable the candidate to act as a first aider in the workplace.
First-aid provision in the workplace covers the arrangements that need to be made to manage injuries suffered at work.
Candidates shall be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely.
In the absence of a full medical, trainees are required to sign the Martin Castle Ltd medical fitness form. There are a lot of people that might think that because it’s such a short and basic course that it might not be as comprehensive. If you have adequate skills, you can treat from a minor scratch to a massive gunshot wound.
How much first-aid provision an employer has to make depends on the circumstances of each workplace. Survival rates of up to 75% have been reported when AED have been used in heart conditions. They shall ensure that they have an adequate level of fitness, are physically able to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and co-ordination, and are able to withstand the stresses of the working environment, such as heat, cold and other inclement weather.

You will be able to stop bleeding, prevent further neck and spinal injuries and even treat a broken leg. If you have high risks or large floor space, we usually recommend getting at least 1 first aider for every department.
It often happens that due to the training and quick response, the first aider stabilises the patient long before further help arrives. The idea acquiring this life skill is to make sure that you can stabilise a patient, and make them as comfortable as possible.
If there are no first aiders around, it’s very possible that a serious patient might not survive until further help arrives. By completing a comprehensive course, you will have the confidence to approach emergency scenes.
We understand the importance of production in your company, so we do our best to fit into your schedule. If you have children, you should be standing first in line to get the basics of medical attention.
By knowing how to apply the basics, you can rest assured that if something unforeseen happens, you know what to do. You will learn about resuscitation, placing individuals in the recovery position, using an AED correctly and effectively.
