He works as a consultant for universities in Bergen, Norway (where he spearheaded the major project "Children in Bergen”) and for the Gilberg Neuropsychiatry Centre (GNC) hub at Kochi in Japan. Professor Gillberg has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed articles on autism, Asperger's syndrome, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, Tourette's syndrome and eating disorders, as well as other areas relevant to the mental health and neurological development of children and adolescents. Professor Gillberg has received several awards for his research and has, among other accolades, received the King's medal of the Seraphim order (2009) and the Soderberg Prize for Medicine (2012).
