Eight different Chapters stores across Canada have verified with us today that they don’t have the Glo or Mini currently in stock.
Best Buy is the best option to pick up the Kobo Glo, with many of the stores currently stocking this item.
The recent release of the Kobo Glo, Mini and the upcoming Arc Tablet is the first time the company has ever released more than one product at a time. Many international customers in the UK have told us that WH Smith has the Glo in stock but not the Mini e-Reader. If you are thinking about buying either of these devices, check out our full hands-on review of the Kobo Glo.
Update: Kobo reached out to us and let us know that the Kobo Glo and Mini have adopted a East Coast to West Coast shipment schedule. 2200 Michael Kozlowski (6354 Posts)Michael Kozlowski is the Editor in Chief of Good e-Reader. Step 3- Switch between book, listening to the narration, or read and listen at the same time. You can also sync your book and narration so that no matter what device they pick up to read with- smart phone, computer, or tablet they can pick up where they left off.
Right now Amazon has over 200 kids titles geared for ages 6-12 with the read-aloud feature that is deeply discounted for a limited time so you want to take advantage of the deals ASAP!
After we downloaded a couple books on the list and the Audible narration he dove right into reading and listening and he was hooked on this new experience!
I decided to investigate the world of mommy blogging in 2011, when I became pregnant with my daughter Ava. We use these programs in Immersion schools and they really benefit those kids who are struggling with the French language, or language in general.
I’ve honestly heard so many great things about audible, but never thought to use it as a tool for children!
Ooooo now this looks like something I totally need to get for when I laying out in the sun! I Never Knew About These Statistics, I Think My Girls Would Like This As They Enjoy Reading And It Would Help Them Move Up In Reading.
A common complaint among tablet owners is the lack of safety measures to block unauthorized users from buying content. And today Amazon adds a feature that really should have shipped on the KF.  This update brings additional parental controls to Kindle Fire, including the ability to password-protect purchases, disable access to specific content libraries, and block access to the Silk web browser. You can simply wait for the update to be pushed out to your Kindle Fire, but if you want it now you can download it here. I was asked: “Can books and apps be saved to the Cloud and reinstalled after resetting? You can use the Cloud Drive for Windows released yesterday to move those up to the Cloud (blog post on that was yesterday). I used the old-fashioned Cloud Drive computer desktop method which I felt was easy also and sent things there .
You can use this more flexible Amazon Cloud Drive for non-docs and books first (mp3’s shorter mp4 videoclips etc) because Amazon gives another 5 gigs that you can put into Kindle personal docs area. This moving of current Kindle perosnal docs would have to be done by computer if the Kindle isn’t making contact with the web because of the accidental password. It’s time consuming but ALL of the above work, and the latter is easiest, but I prefer to have the Cloud have the info too in case something goes wrong with my computer.
I should also have pointed out that your Kindle books and Kindle Fire apps are always saved on the server in the Kindle-purchases management area, so there’s no reason to worry about those.
You can always get those back, but sometimes it takes a lot of time if you have a lot of books and apps.
They’ll show up in your apps and Carousel area with the download arrow showing so you can get them to your device (after a factory-defaults reset).
Having the same issue and furious with Amazon for sending out this update and not trouble shooting this problem.

I was all set to resume watching my Amazon Prime movie from yesterday, but was stopped dead in my tracks by the Parental Controls added without my request or permission. I recently discovered that my Kindle Fire is locked asking me for my Parental control password, which I do not believe I even set up. Hey guys: Same problem here and after several calls to Amazon we were told to reset to factory settings as well and to get the apps back from the Cloud.
For all you hate Parental controls, you haven’t gotten a bill from Amazon for $$$$$ due to unauthorized purchases. Martview on the other hand has a lot going for it, and for me, it is currently the best pdf ebook reader for Windows. Store Managers have let us know that the people who pre-ordered them got them first and this effected the shipments to the stores. We were told by over twelve different stores that there is a shortage with the Kobo Mini and that they should have them by Friday, or Monday at the latest.
This is causing massive delays in getting the product into the stores for customers to buy them.
In many cases, staff are totally unaware that a new model is out and few have been trained on the new device.
This means that most of the devices were mostly available in Ontario and provinces east of there. Specifically Immersion Reading, where your child can read a book and listen at the same time while audible highlights the words. He started out with Diary of a Wimpy Kid and I loved that he sat and devoured almost an hour of a book before moving. I think in those 30 days you will be amazed at the improvement in your child’s reading comprehension, fluency, and accuracy-even with the most reluctant of readers. It’s a great way to make use of time rather than just listen to pop music over the radio. The statistics shocked me and am glad to see something like this is helping grow reading levels. I talked to customer support, but couldn’t get any help other than that my problem was forwarded to tech support.
My son’s kindle just set a parental control password last night and nothing we have tried so far has worked. BIG problem is there is a very easy end round for Parental controls that even kids can figure out in a few minutes. But why couldn't you justCindy on No text to speech in Amazon’s new Paperwhite Kindles: Why?
We were told that by Friday, or Monday at the latest, the majority of Chapters stores in Canada will have these on the shelves. The main reason most stores currently don’t have them is because the majority of Mini orders in Canada were slated for pre-order customers from the main Kobo Website and allocated towards their major Canadian partner Chapters, thus creating in a nationwide shortage. Kobo is definitely going through some growing pains in its ambitions as a global e-reader company.
We have received many emails from users claiming that the Glo models are hidden in the store underneath the older Kobo Touch. By this Friday, almost 95% of all stores in Canada will have these in stock for the weekend. His articles have been picked up by major and local news sources and websites such as the Huffington Post, CNET and more.
It is giving my child a confidence in reading that he didn’t know he could have by boosting his comprehension and retention- making books come alive! Granted, I would have to wait until my son learns to read in a couple of years but I hope it will still be around by then because that seems like a great resource to use. There have been any number of stories of kids running up bills for hundred of dollars in in-game content on their parents' account, and the froth in the blogosphere got so loud that even Apple realized that adding password protects was a good idea.

They are aware of the problem but not how to fix it other than to reset to factory defaults. He said I have to reset, when I asked if gaming levels will be lost he said he didn’t think so. It really wanted a true international release in over twelve different countries with the new models, but is experiencing problems with supply and online orders. Michael frequently travels to international events such as IFA, Computex, CES, Book Expo and a myriad of others.
I don’t want to reset to factory settings because I will lose all downloaded and personal info. I am refusing to do that at this point, going to give it a few days and hope they figure out a fix before I resort to resetting. I am afraid to do this until someone says they are sure I will not loose progress on the games. Immersion Reading is specifically geared to those with reading challenges like dyslexia. Format support is one of the aspects of the application that the developers need to improve, to add support for widely used ebook formats like epub, comic book archive files or even plain text documents and Microsoft Word documents. For now, you can only load mart and pdf documents. Basically, you are combining the best of two worlds – a Kindle ebook and an Audible audiobook to give your child a richer reading experience. There is an option to create ebooks in the mart format from images, archives or comic book files but that's not a suitable solution. The different browsing modes and the mouse and keyboard shortcuts make the experience as comfortable as possible. The online library of ebooks and magazines alone justifies the installation of the reader. Ebooks and magazines are sorted in categories like computers and tech, lifestyle, repairing manuals or comics and manga.
The comics and mange section for instance has more than a dozen subcategories for popular series such as Detective Conan, Bleach, Hunter X Hunter or Full Metal Alchemist. All magazines and books that are displayed in the library can be downloaded to the local computer system. Martview's policy is that users need to be the owner of the document to upload it to the public library.
Several of the magazines raise legality questions, but that is something that this review cannot sufficiently address. All online documents are provided in mart format with no option to convert the files once they have been downloaded, at least not from within the ebook reading software.Martview's online library is a feature that not many ebook readers offer at this moment. The developers need to add support for additional formats including conversions between formats to make it the best ebook reader there is.Interested Windows users can download the latest version of Martview from the developer website. Reply Martin Brinkmann April 15, 2011 at 11:57 pm # I really like the interface and the online library. Reply Martin Brinkmann April 16, 2011 at 9:47 am # I do not think I have a single PDF with JavaScript to test support. Their website is really holding back on information, and there does not seem to be a way to contact support. Now it looks like a great abandoned project ;-( If that's what you want, just upload any PDF and their freeware will do the rest.
