They could also put some Nema plugs on it and people could use these instead of generators. I could see using this trailer system for the rural open gapes in the Midwest or on a trip to Alaska along with visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Give me a 150 mile BEV and lots of these along major highway arteries and I need nothing more.

I once had some crack head steal the catalytic converters along with my emissions system off of the back of my car while it was parked. Me, I think these would be better as cargo carriers with a flat battery pack on the bottom, so you’d get range and cargo capacity at the same time. One negative to a trailer for additional storage is that on toll roads and bridges you’ll be charged extra tolls for that third axle.

As an added bonus, since EVs don’t have as many moving parts as a traditional vehicle, they’re usually cheaper to maintain. However, if you live in a condo or apartment, having your own dedicated outlet for charging your vehicle or even a level 2 charging station might not be possible. For those not convinced, many EVs on sale today offer more range than the i-MiEVs and on average offer about 76 miles.
Electric vehicles tend to have a higher sticker price than a gas powered vehicle, but after a few years of maintenance and fuel costs, the gas model’s running costs will be as much as the EVs purchase price.
Fortunately, lease pricing for electric vehicles are quite attractive, with some EVs like the Nissan LEAF costing just $199 a month for 36 months.
However, those who do have longer commutes and limited access to charging checkpoints will either have to wait for greater advancements in electric vehicle technology or opt for an extended-range electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid.
Plug-in hybrids are different from traditional hybrids since they can drive on pure electric power for longer and can be recharged from an external source.
Maybe I’d consider one if I wanted to get passed by a Honda Fit on the highway every day. But cycle on for 30 mins, off for 90, or whatever the fridge program is, to get that average. Which would in turn allow Tesla to have a steady flow of cash to help build more superchargers or enlarge the existing ones with more charging stales. But I wounder would this trailer allow you to fill up while you sleep over night at a hotel room. Sure, you might be able to steal it, but once you have it, if you can’t do anything with it, what’s the point? That way, you’re connecting both batteries in parallel, and both batteries drain at around the same rate. I’m not totally sure how this is more convenient than stopping at a fast charge station, except that I guess you get to choose where you charge. At least, that’s how it is in my neck of the woods, for any of the chargers outside the city. The shortest level 1 charge comes with the new Chevrolet Spark EV, which tops up its battery in ‘just’ 17 hours.
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV can drive only 62 miles on a single charge and is considered to have the lowest range of all pure EVs out there.
Specialty EVs like the Tesla Model S and RAV4 EV are among the very few pure-EVs which can get over 100 miles on a single charge. Compare that to the price of a fully loaded compact or subcompact gas-powered car and EVs can begin to seem like a pretty good bargain. They’re perfect for those who do short commutes regularly, but long-distance trips over the weekends, or on holidays. Until a replacement battery is available at a reasonable price, it may be wiser to pass, or at least, lease. The on-board electronics can handle this just fine, and are generally ignorant of what you’ve just done.
At an optimistic 50% usage rate that would take over a year to become profitable, for a temporary problem. Essentially you’re charging the battery at 5 times the rate and end up with a lot more heat, which can negatively affect the lifespan of the car’s battery. Or consider the Tesla Model S can drive 265 miles, depending on the battery you get in the car. I expect that it would be no problem charging the car’s onboard battery this way, because power comes into the battery the same way every time you use regenerative braking.
