There's an ebay seller called cameramate2010 who sells the charger for a decent price and free shipping (item 280617455502 ); the seller looks legitimate, but I'd like to ask CPF's opinion. There was also a comment on one of the sellers ebay pages that says 'taken from December stock'. My question is why would you pay about 3x as much for the 2500mAh XX's over the regular eneloops? That same seller has the charger alone for $24.80 free shipping, which seems reasonable, though I could be wrong.
Anyway, shipping does look rather expensive, if anyone know of another legitimate dealer, please comment. I found ebay item 180621490340 , which looks like a good price for four, and looks like a reputable seller. For reason that will become apparent later, this review is focused on the charger.I have been using eneloop batteries since the first-gen was introduced to the US market back in beginning of 2007.

The Product Design Award was given to the eneloop organic limited edition batteries and the Packaging Design Award to eneloop’s ground-breaking packaging. If you reside in an EU member state besides UK, import VAT on this purchase is not recoverable. Import charges previously quoted are subject to change if you increase you maximum bid amount. Another ebay seller has four for $11.97 and free shipping, which is decent I guess (item 180577391244 ). Over the past 7.5 years, I have tested 2nd-gen (1500 cycles), 3rd-gen (1800 cycles) and lately the 4th-gen (2100 cycles) eneloop cells.
Getting the message across to the customer was the important thing in designing the actual product. You won't be commited to buy it yet, so if shipping costs are too much, just close the page.
But I'm always unsatisfied with the charger bundled with most eneloop packages.- The MQN05 (bundled with initial eneloop packages back in early 2007) can recharge individual cells.
There is just one indicator light, which goes off when all cells are fully charged.- The MQN06 (bundled with most eneloop cells sold between late 2007 and beginning of 2014) can only charge in pairs. Phasellus vulputate, lectus eu consequat scelerisque, felis odio consequat enim, ut vulputate elit lacus nec ipsum.
We have developed the eneloop batteries to excel in extreme conditions where high power performance in very low temperature environments (down to -20°C) is needed.
I call it 'semi-smart' at best.- The MQR06 (introduced to US market in 2012) is faster, handles individual cells and accepts 100-240V AC input.
But it is a lot more expensive.Previously, I often recommended using either Sony BCG34HLD or BCG34HRE to recharge eneloop cells, instead of bundled Sanyo eneloop chargers. Unfortunately, both chargers are now marked as "discontinued by manufacturer" on OnlineShopDealer. Finally, Panasonic (who purchased Sanyo back in 2009) released the new BQ-CC17 charger for eneloop cells. I have verified this by charging two eneloop AA cells that are 50% depleted, together with two that are completed depleted.
They turn green when charging, and off when done.- Even with a low charging current of 300mA, the batteries do get warm to the touch near the end of charging process. Electrically, I can see no performance difference between 4th-gen and all earlier generations of eneloop cells. Even their charge-retention rates are indistinguishable (I have tested some first-gen eneloop cells after 3.5 years in storage, and they still retain over 70% of original capacity). On the other hand, the new 4th-gen eneloop cells offer no measureable performance difference over earlier generations.
Those are just rebranded 2nd-gen eneloop cells based on my testing.[Update on Aug 24, 2014]The more I use the BQ-CC17 the more I like it. In many cases some of my batteries were over-discharged to 0V and cannot be detected by advanced chargers such as La Crosse BC1000. But the BQ-CC17 has no problems recharging those.OnlineShopDealer also sells the 'Advanced Charger Pro', often bundled with 'Eneloop Pro' High Capacity Batteries. The biggest disadvantage I had with the Sony CycleEnergy charger is that it required me to always charge batteries in pairs, which ended up becoming problematic after noticing that the batteries don't always charge equally.
I would charge the batteries until the LED light would notify me that they are ready to use, yet after inserting them into my high-power devices the batteries would already read one to two bars lower instead of indicating all the bars for a full charge. At the time I also only owned two rechargable AAA batteries, one which was used for my wireless laptop mouse and the other for a Bluetooth stereo remote.
The reason I chose to go with this specific brand and charger was because it has excellent ratings, the great price, and most importantly allowed for individual cell charging.I cannot express how pleased I am with this product, and I highly recommend this product without any hesitation to anyone in need of an excellent battery charger! The convenience factor alone of not having to charge batteries in pairs makes this product a well worth investment in my opinion.

I am also shocked at how affordable this battery charger is compared to the Sony CycleEnergy I purchased, as I only paid ~$20 which included 4 AA batteries that sell for ~$14 if bought without the charger. I practically could have purchased two of these Panasonic chargers for the price that I paid for a single Sony CycleEnergy charger! As far as my experience with the battery indicators on my high power devices, they finally indicate a full charge when inserting the batteries into the device! Which tells me the reason as to why it showed one to two bars less on my previous charger is because the charger was set on a timer and one of the two batteries must not have been getting fully charged during the process.
When the item first arrived I was under the impression that I had received the wrong charger as I couldn't see any LED lights on the charger nor did I find any mention of them on the packaging. I had to go back to the product page on OnlineShopDealer to ensure that I had purchased the right product and properly read the description to include LED indicators. It wasn't until I used the charger for the first time that I was able to spot the LED indicators, as they are hidden behind the white plastic case and near impossible to see without charging a battery. Overall I think it actually makes the charger look more aesthetically pleasing with the LED lights hidden behind the case, I just found that initially it created some confusion since some of the pictures on the product page show the little green lights which makes it seem like the lights are featured externally on the charger. According to the product information from each charger, everything else appears to be exactly the same.
The 4 AA batteries including in this pack came pre-charged and were ready to be used upon arrival. After they are fully charged I took 2 out and install it on a cheap Philips electric shaver, turn it on, started a stopwatch and watched a 2hr movie. When the movie ending credits started rolling, the shaver was still going on, strong.Started another movie.
By the time shaver stopped running, time clocked is 3 hrs 27mins.Also confirmed that it can charge a single battery anywhere on the 4 available slots.
So overnight charging is cool, no worries about overcharging and slow-kill the expensive batteries. No charging cable. At the rear you flip out a 2-pin plug that connects straight to the wall socket.(see my pix)I got another set of four AA's and a pack of eight AAA's.
This is a must have kit when the gizmos you have run on batteries, esp radio controlled toys since they eat batteries for breakfast.
I haven't compared them to other brands directly as in a controlled test but can say the definitely last at least twice as long as the other brands of batteries I used to use. This is based on my experience with my older digital camera and a couple of other devices. You can buy these batteries in smaller packages and also get just the batteries and a charger.
I first tried these batteries quite some time ago and got just a charger and some AA batteries. I was so pleased with the batteries I soon bought AAA batteries and more AA batteries. The item I am reviewing is a kit packaged in a nice carrying case.
The included spacers allow you to use the included AA and AAA batteries in items requiring larger batteries.
I haven't used the spacers yet but like the idea of having them on hand in case I need for them a flashlight requiring larger-sized batteries. The price of the kit for what you get is very reasonable. These batteries are the only rechargeable batteries worth buying. You will not be sorry trying them. Why did I wait so long to buy these?I don't know why I waited so long to get these batteries.
