Replacement cost of tesla battery,12v 22ah deep cycle battery,rc car battery box mod - Good Point

It’s clear that both companies have a different approach on their battery replacement programs, and the cost for replacement proves that. Tesla Model S battery replacement cost – During yesterdays event, Tesla’s CEO said that the Model S was designed from the very start for its battery pack to be swapped out, and we finally got to see a demonstration of this. However, if you wish to purchase your pack back, that will cost you another $60, or you can keep the pack you had swapped, although this fee has yet to be announced. Nissan Leaf battery replacement cost – Like we said earlier, Nissan has a different approach, as you will need to sign-up to a replacement program, which will cost around $100 per month.
You will then get an assurance from Nissan that the battery will stay above 9 bars, but if it does drop below then yours will either be repaired or replaced.
There you have it, two different approaches, but who has come up with the best battery swap program? 2013 Tesla Model S Long-Term Road Test - New Updates - 2013 Tesla Model S: New Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires. Tesla Model S - Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia - In June 2015, three years after the Model S introduction and with almost 75,000 Model S sedans delivered worldwide, Tesla announced that Model S owners have . Tesla Model S Catches Fire After Battery Puncture, Musk - A Tesla Model S caught fire on the highway recently after its bottom-mounted battery compartment was struck by a piece of metal. Electric Vehicles today are considered to be more expensive to purchase than their Internal Combustion Engine counterparts.
While none of the EV’s on the market today are cheap, they are competitively priced for their class of vehicle. EV’s are much simpler mechanically than ICE vehicles with far fewer parts and requiring less maintenance. The Tesla Model S has remarkably few mechanical parts, while combustion vehicles have thousands of discrete parts that make up the engine, fuel system, transmission, drive train and exhaust. The electric motor is not much bigger than a watermelon and is matched up with the DC-AC inverter and single-speed gearbox in a very compact space between the rear wheels.
Besides these mechanical parts there is a Linux based computer system with 17” touchscreen on the dash that controls basically everything; from the AC to the radio, windows, locks and GPS. Tesla recently announced that they will be constructing the world’s largest lithium-ion battery factory in Nevada, named the Gigafactory.
It is known that Tesla developed their own proprietary lithium-ion battery architecture and it has proven to be far ahead of the competition in cost and performance. One unambiguous cost is the cost to charge an EV which is a fraction of filling up a conventional car with gasoline or diesel and presents one of the most compelling arguments for consumers to switch to EV’s. Tesla offers free charging at their Supercharger stations for all of their customers for the life of their cars which sweetens the deal, especially compared to the competition Mercedes Benz S550 which gets 19 miles to the gallon and costs roughly $1,900 in fuel to drive 10,000 miles. Maintenance requirements on EV’s are much lower than ICE vehicles saving owners significant time and expense. In the final analysis, EV’s offer a compelling cost saving argument over conventional ICE vehicles, even if all the advantages are not available today.

Guestroger rabbitOctober 22, 2014 21:35Most people simply do not realise how cheap petrol is. So even if you could create a car powered by free positive thoughts its only worth $7.1k more than the oil car. I have never seen a tesla so I can’t tell you how the size compares but a golf can seat five adults plus luggage.
If that is the case the oil car fuel costs should be reduced by the tax percent as we are not comparing tax systems but technology. For example a nissan leaf (a rechargeable car) can be setup using a brayton engine burning wood pellets to become a hybrid that has better performance than a vw jetta tdi! On one $4 40# bag of wood pellets the nissan leaf can go over 100 miles on the wood gas and the remaining 20# of charcoal or biochar is permanently sequestered carbon out of the atmosphere that can be used in the garden!
With the electron drivetrain our cars and trucks can have better performance, burn renuable fuel, burn lawn clippings and other yard waste, and actually become carbon negative to locomote! Tesla Model S in Albuquerque's 'snowstorm' during NY-to-California road trip [photo: David Noland]Enlarge PhotoOne of the things electric-car owners worry about is long-term battery degradation.

Second, it’s a little-noticed fact that Tesla’s eight-year “infinite-mile” battery-pack warranty doesn’t actually guarantee any particular level of capacity.  It only guarantees that the battery will work properly to propel the car. So if I lose half my battery capacity and range after three years, it would be tough luck for me. As long as the battery doesn’t short out or malfunction, Tesla has no obligation to replace it, no matter how much capacity is lost.
Only time will tell, of course, what the rate of battery degradation and range loss will be for electric cars currently on the road. And a recent unofficial study by a Dutch engineering professor shows an average range loss for the Model S even less than the Roadster’s.
When Tesla first introduced the Roadster in 2008, it predicted that the battery pack would retain at least 70 percent of its capacity after five years and 50,000 miles of driving. Using data from 126 Roadsters driven a total 3.2 million miles, the study concluded that the typical Roadster would still have 80-85 percent battery capacity after 100,000 miles. Based on 84 data points from the 85-kWh version of the Model S and six from 60-kWh cars, the study concludes that the Model S will retain about 94 percent of its capacity after 50,000 miles, with losses thereafter shrinking to about 1 percent per 30,000 miles.
That means that after 100,000 miles, the typical Model S is projected to retain about 92 percent of its battery capacity and range. So which company has the better option, although it doesn’t matter because you will be pretty much stuck with each program? The price for this option is around $60 and can be swapped out faster than it takes you to fill your car up with gas. Let’s say that your battery has now passed its warranty period, you can sign up to the new replacement program and the moment you begin payments you will receive a brand-new battery, with a complete charge.
We originally unveiled the Model S in March 2009 with a base price of $57,400 ($49,900 after federal tax credits). 2013 Tesla Model S P85 Comparison Test - Edmunds takes a closer look at two new of the most intriguing alternative-power cars on the road, the 2014 BMW i8 and the 2013 Tesla Model S.. Model S is designed from the ground up to be the safest, most exhilarating sedan on the road.
But the purchase price of EV’s versus ICE vehicles tells an incomplete story about the comparative costs.
The Tesla Model S is the best equipped and most expensive EV on the market, as a luxury sedan it competes with the Mercedes Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Porsche Panamera all of which are in the $70,000 – $90,000+ price range. The perceived expense of EV’s is almost entirely in the cost of batteries and as battery prices come down with expanding production, then overall EV costs will come down as well.
Tesla displays a stripped down Model S in their stores with just the mechanical parts installed, for anyone accustomed to complex mechanical aspects of cars it is a surprising contrast. This setup provides direct power to the rear wheels and also handles the regenerative braking.
Tesla does not reveal precise costs on their batteries but there is a cottage industry of analysts trying to determine what those costs are. Planned production at the Gigafactory of battery cells by 2020 will exceed the entire industry’s production in 2013.
While most of the EV industry chose to go with large battery cells, Tesla went against the grain to use small cylindrical cells manufactured by Panasonic (their partner in the Gigafactory) for laptop computers that are cheaper, more energy dense, and safer (because they contain less energy per cell). The US Dept of Energy uses an eGallon to represent the electrical equivalent of one gallon of gasoline and rates an eGallon as roughly one-third the cost of gasoline. Though combustion engines have become much more reliable in recent years they are still very complex machines with many fluids and moving parts that wear and eventually need maintenance.
The single biggest cost factor holding up EVs is battery costs, but these costs are projected to fall as manufacturing expands.

Electric drivetrains are not only 10x longer lived than reciprocating engines for a lower TCO but they can be powered by any means available to produce that electricity!
But six or eight years down the road, with 100,000-plus miles on the odometer, there’s no way to know what my range will be. Nissan Leaf battery swap, cost for replacement By Peter Chubb - Jun 25, 2013 Tesla Motors made a huge deal in the build-up to their Tesla Model S battery swap event, and so it came as no surprise to us that Nissan would try to take away some of that shine by sharing details on their Nissan Leaf battery swap program yesterday as well.

The advantage of this is it will be the latest version of the battery, complete with the latest technology.
Truth be told, only one tire on our 2013 Tesla Model S was down to the wear bars and needed . The Chevy Volt plug in hybrid EV has an MSRP of $35,000, and the Nissan LEAF EV lists at $29,800, comparable to cars of similar size and features. Electricity is much less expensive than gasoline or diesel so powering an EV is much cheaper than filling up an ICE vehicle.
The battery is wide and flat and covers the entire bottom of the frame between the four wheels.
Much of the maintenance required on the Model S is software based such as updates, reboots and firmware upgrades. Tesla completely redesigned the battery packaging to make it simpler and reduce manufacturing costs.
Conventional wisdom is that the batteries will retain 70%-80% of their storage capacity when retired from automotive use and will still have market value for stationary applications.
Electricity prices vary across the country and by time of day but they are far less volatile than gasoline prices which are tied to international markets and geopolitical events. A cursory review of engine components and common ICE maintenance includes: oil changes every 3000-5000 miles, transmission fluid must be checked and changed at 100,000 miles, radiator coolant must be checked, spark plugs and wires, timing belt, muffler and exhaust system, catalytic convertors, fuel pump, alternator, clutches on manual transmissions, and of course regular trips to the gas station. On mileage and maintenance costs the advantages of EVs are already clear and present today. In an interview with Barron’s online Telsa CEO Elon Musk claimed that improvements will bring the cost of the Model S battery to $10,000-$12,000, below $200 per kWh. A liquid cooling system was developed that helps to maintain cell life but is also an important safety feature as it helps to dissipate heat if any one cell were to catch fire and prevents the fire spreading. EV’s eliminate all of these parts and reduce maintenance costs and time dramatically for the owners. Charging infrastructure needs to and will continue to expand, but in these early days there are gaps in coverage.
This decentralizes energy and the $ all the way down to the individual keeping the $ circulating in our communities where it is most needed. Under the front side of the car are the rest of the mechanical components: vacuum pump for air suspension, ABS compressor, steering motor, AC compressor and double wishbone suspension.
An interesting analysis at Green Car Reports estimated Tesla’s cost conservatively at $171 per kWh with prices collapsing. The smaller, safer cells allowed Tesla more flexibility in arranging the battery pack enabling them to create the large slab that covers the undercarriage rather than bulky batteries that eat into interior space. Battery swap services, of which Tesla advertises but has not brought to market yet, offer compelling new business model opportunities where batteries are leased or paid for via service contract and simply swapped out as needed without requiring a large outlay of cash by the vehicle owner. EV’s share brakes and tires in common with ICE vehicles, but the regenerative braking saves much wear on EV brakes extending their lives.
An industry standard for DC high-speed charging will greatly facilitate a wide expansion in convenient charging locations for all EVs. Along with conventional brakes and wheels, those are effectively all the parts that make the car go.
Increased computerization of EV’s means a greater reliance on software and increased potential for computer glitches bringing a new category of maintenance to EV’s and even raises the potential for them to be hacked by criminals, something to be aware of.
There are large trunks for storage in both the front and back of the car and the interior is very roomy with comfortable seating for 5.
Ultimately the materials in lithium-ion batteries can be completely recycled and remanufactured, but the business models for battery replacements are still emerging.
