There’s a brand new 3-megapixel camera, complete with auto-focus, auto-exposure, auto-white balance, low light and an auto-macro mode that can capture still images as close as 10cm away. There’s also a new voice control mode, which lets you not only voice-dial, but select tracks to play in iTunes, open web pages, and control other applications. The $199 price for the 16GB is only with a 2 year contract (at least in North America with AT&T).
So if you buy the new Iphone 3GS 16 GB at an AT&T store does that mean you have to pay another price or do you pay the same price.
If you’re signing up for a completely new account, the 16GB is $199, and the 32GB is $299. As an absolute iphone addict (I had a first generation, waited outside a store all night to be one of the first to get a 3G) I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of getting my hands on a 3GS – I just gotta have it! WHY APPLE SAY THE COST FOR THE NEW IPHONEs COST $199 – $299 IF THE PHONE COULD COST UP TO $1000 ++ WITH AN AT&T CONTRACT ??? PUT IT ON SALE WITH THE PRICE YOU SAD, NOT GET PROFIT AROUND 20% FROM MONEY AT&T OR ORANGE OR OTHER FU**** BASTARDS THAT JUST WANT US TO BE CONNECTED WITH THEM AS MUCH IS POSIBLE. We’re trying to get a debate going on our blog about what the new iPhone release means for Apple. Why don’t you direct your question at the store who is actually selling the phone and who will know the correct pricing for you specific situation? Guys hello…i ve looked thru all comments dat r here but wut i do see everywhere is dat de fone costs 199 or 299 with contract but will dis contract take fees? You can improve your iPhone's battery life substantially by making a few (non permanent) changes to your iPhone settings.
If you're not using a Bluetooth headset or connecting your phone to a Wi-Fi hotspot (or your jerry-rigged hotel room Wi-Fi internet connection), you should disable Bluetooth and WiFi on your phone as a power saving measure. Once you've done that, you can either click the "settings" link at the top of the screen to go back to the top page of settings. Now, your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth should be disabled, which will save you power when you're out and about. Web browsing is, of course, slow on 2G, but you you can always turn 3G back on when you need it (as a side issue, slow data can be a good thing when you're paying global roaming charges anyway, since the faster the internet, the faster you will burn through megabytes at $10-$20 per megabyte at global roaming rates -- and of course, you're best off disabling data altogether when roaming and only using Wi-Fi hotspots). You can turn your screen brightness up at any time by following the same steps, but keeping brightness turned down saves a lot of battery life. If you still don't get the battery life you need with all of the above tweaks applied, you might consider getting a third party battery pack to top your phone up.

Dan is a tech enthusiast who frequently qualifies for enhanced airport security screening due to the number of cords and gadgets stuffed into his cabin bag. It doesn't matter if it takes 1 hr to download a 20 mb file or 2 mins to download the same file, you will still be charged the same amount of money.
The thing is this: if you pull down your mail via IMAP or POP on 2G, you'll get the headers first without downloading the whole lot.

Apple's newest iPhone will touch down in Australia on October 14, but it's not the iPhone 5.
Leading up to the iPhone 4 unveiling at WWDC 2010, I wrote that battery life was the most important thing Apple needed to fix in the iPhone. Another thing Apple is doing with the iPhone 4 that could improve battery life is integrating the wireless antennas into the new metal side plates. That said, Apple is also adding features to the iPhone 4 that will likely consume additional battery life, including a higher resolution screen, an LED flash for the camera, and multitasking. If it's any consolation, the hardware analysis site AnandTech said, "Apple's battery life estimates have been ridiculously accurate over the past couple of years.
I'm not quite as confident in Apple's numbers because they are often taken in a vacuum (the audio playback number is only true of you turn off all the wireless radios and just use the iPhone as an iPod).
That means that these numbers are probably fairly accurate, and that the iPhone 4's net gain in battery life will likely not be very significant.

To help you out, here are three steps to make those charges last longer, so you can snap, tweet, and Instagram to your heart's content. If it seems like your battery is determined to die after 4 hours every day, there are some changes you can make to your software settings to make it last a bit longer.
One thing you need to do to preserve your battery life is turn things off that you're not using. The real chargers that are made to charge your iPhone most likely charge it faster than fake ones, for obvious reasons. If your iPhone just refuses to hold a charge no matter what, you'll want to buy an external battery to keep it going all day. One good option is a charging case, which protects your iPhone and charges it at the same time.
If you have an iPhone 5 or 5S, for example, Mophie's juice pack costs $79.95 for a case that gives you 80 percent extra battery life.
If you'd rather keep your current case and carry a separate battery, you can buy a portable external battery like these from Anker. For $49.99, an Aker 2nd Gen Astro3 can charge your iPhone six times before you have to recharge the recharger (so meta). There was no mention of digital image stabilization, but the video does take advantage of all the auto adjustment modes that the still camera supports. Hopefully, they’ll open this up to app developers to leverage in their own applications. My friend has scratched his glass once (was given a new phone) and cracked the glass once (was also given a new phone) and everything worked out.
The exception is in Japan, where you need to have 3G enabled to connect to the mobile network at all. Turning down the brightness from full to half often makes very little difference in legibility but can contribute to considerably longer battery life.

Also, under the "Fetch" section, we suggest selecting the "Manually" option, which means the phone will only download for email when you actually open the email app and check for email. The upside of these is that you can use them to charge other devices, such as your iPad or iPod.
You recharge the iPhone and battery case together, at the same time, using a charging cord that attaches to the battery case.
That means you can delete or archive the ones you don't need before you incur more data charges. As we'd hoped, Apple announced that it was putting a larger battery inside the fourth generation iPhone and that the new device would be running on Apple's new A4 processor, allowing the company to squeeze out greater power efficiency between the hardware and the software.
If this works as designed, it could improve wireless signal quality, which would cause less battery drain because when mobile phones don't have a strong signal they try to boost it by pushing more power to the radios. That may be why Apple is making only modest promises of improved battery life with the iPhone 4. Nevertheless, I agree with AnandTech that Apple's numbers tend not to be as wildly exaggerated as some battery life suggestions we see for other laptops and smartphones. Your iPhone learns the places you frequent the most so that apps can give you targeted ads.
And if you’re looking for a cheap phone, you can now buy last years iPhone 3G for just $99 bucks. This will save battery life and minimise data charges, because you can check email when you are connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot. The advantage of these is that they effectively give you a permanent upgrade to your iPhone battery life. Last year, there were reports of people being injured by fake iPhone chargers, and Apple was even offering people money if they traded in their phony chargers for a period of time. Of course, you'll have to carry around an extra battery, but if you need that sweet, sweet charge, you'll do what must be done. To turn off Frequent Locations, go to Settings, then hit Privacy, then Location Services, then System Services, and scroll down to the bottom to turn Frequent Locations off.
You must be with AT&T for at least 18 months with your new contract before you are eligible for an upgrade and discount rates. If you're going to be totally without service for a while (underground in the subway, for example) turn on Airplane Mode. Just go to Settings, then iTunes & App Downloads, click Automatic Downloads and turn that off.
