One complaint I heard over and over when iOS 7 shipped was that many of the colors used in apps and icons looked more like they came from cartoons. Some apps won't look all that different, but others will give the boot to control and navigation color selections that I can only assume were chosen by a colorblind engineer.
Am loving the white point setting, though it should be in the Control Panel (or whatever it’s called) for easier access.
In addition to this, you can do the sensible thing and kill some apps, including logging out of social networks and switching off Location Services if you’re not using this perk all the time.
According to Battery Doctor, Pocket, Star Walk, Facebook, Chrome, and Camera + are putting a strain on my phone. Here are some of the most popular apps that suck a lot of power, so you know how to manage them: Pocket, Star Walk, Facebook, Facebook Messenger, YouTube, Dropbox, Yahoo Messenger, BlackBerry Messenger, Viber, Nimbuzz, and Google Search. Considering that these apps have been around for quite some time, it’s pretty unfair to blame it all on Apple. There are a few basic things you might be doing to make precious hours of running time slip away. The battery-draining culprit that perhaps bears the most responsibility is a new feature called Background App Refresh, whose default is set to "on" in iOS 7. Many apps — from Google Maps to Twitter and even the iOS camera — are tracking your location at all times.
Apple has added a bunch of new animations and a parallax feature — which makes it seem like the wallpaper can move behind the apps — but they eat away at your power slightly faster. AirDrop lets you share files with other users on the same network, but when you're not using it (or Bluetooth, for that matter), do your battery a favor and shut it off.

This has long been a helpful way to save battery life on any device and iOS 7 is no exception. Apple's internal search functionality (called Spotlight) can now be accessed from any screen, but because it's continually indexing new data, it's killing your battery.
Apple addressed part of that with iOS 7.1 by making the neon green phone and messages icons less garish, and by giving us a setting to darken up many of the colors in apps, too.
Apple's Calendar app, for example, gives you darker red navigation buttons instead of the orangey-red we were stuck with before. If so, you might enjoy hanging out with other like-minded folks on the Mac Geek Gab Facebook Group.
One potential fix (that worked wonders in my case) was to tweak the automatic timezone setting. KS Mobile offers a free app called Battery Doctor – Must-have Battery Management App, which admittedly looks like a jack of all trades but comes with some pretty useful stuff to manage your battery life.
While all this is common sense these days, it helps to have a tool that reminds you what’s going on with your phone. I’d be extremely happy not having to tweak another setting in iOS 8 just to save battery life.
One of the biggest complaints about the the new mobile operating system is how easily it drains your battery. It lets apps run in the background while you multitask and continually refreshes content when running on Wi-Fi or a cellular network. Some people have complained the movements are dizzying anyway, so there's no harm in turning it off.

It's a smart function, but the last thing you want to do is run app updates when your battery is down to fumes. Powered by its own proprietary technology, Mashable is the go-to source for tech, digital culture and entertainment content for its dedicated and influential audience around the globe.
Then again, who is responsible for making these apps and iOS get along: Apple or the developers?
We recommend the latter option, so you can still leave on key location-based functions such as Find My Phone if it's ever lost. To disable this, visit Settings > iTunes and Apple Store and uncheck the Updates option.
Here, you can turn off the entire function or just disable that apps you don't need to refresh on an automatic basis.
