When connecting the two batteries on my 1995 BW 21' Outrage(Johnson 200 HP) does the short Black cable go from negative terminal on battery #1 to negative terminal on battery#2 ?

I would (and have) recommend your site to others I was quite satisfied with the quality of the information received, the professional with whom I interacted, and the quick response time.
My 1999 saab 9-3 has been sitting for a couple months (yes i know i should have been starting it once a week) and today i went to check on it and start it up.
Water in the car can be a serious problem, I would suggest to feel the carpets and see if you can find any other traces of moisture.
Jump starting a car is a very common practice, however it is also a little ?dangerous?? especially on cars with dissimilar power. Keep in mind that under the best conditions a car battery will last only 3-5 years, maybe its time to replace it? Please be careful when jumping Blueeyes, Honestly it is worth it to make sure it is just the battery (although I am sure that it is), IIRC when a battery sits for a long enough period of time without the proper current ~12 volts, it will never properly hold a charge again.
I would suggest using some WD-40 in the ignition to displace the moisture found in the lock before this rusts and needs to be replaced, and then closely monitor the car for signs of leaks on the interior. The water in the trunk is unrelated and is mostly likely caused by a leaking tail light, this is a common fault on these cars. Slightly tweaked To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Yes i agree with Stormcrow, also i wanted to add that with a battery this dead you MUST let the dead battery charge for a long time (~15 minutes; a lot longer then normal) before attempting to start the car (although anxious to see if it works, you feel like trying right away).

The most basic electric car has 4 to 12 deep cycle batteries wired together to make a large battery pack. When batteries are wired together as pictured, with + to + and – to -, the capacity (amp hours) of the pack increases but the voltage stays the same. In the diagram below, the same four batteries have been wired together in series connecting each battery + to – throughout the entire pack. Typically, a conversion donor won’t have the weight-carrying capacity to carry two lead-acid packs wired in series parallel.
It is nice to know that this service is here for people like myself, who need answers fast and are not sure who to consult. I liked that I could ask additional questions and get answered in a very short turn around. Not only did you answer my questions, you even took it a step further with replying with more pertinent information I needed to know. RV experience including Cummins North West, Country Coach, Monaco Coach - vendor certified.
I have never had the door locks act like that on me when I have had a low or dead battery, however, I am inclined to think that these problems are related.
Improperly done in the worse case the battery can explode or catch fire, but even properly done a surge of power can fry one or more of the cars? sensitive electronics such as the engine ECU. So charging and using a dead battery as the case may be can easily lead to a stranded situation, at least keep a set of jumper cables in the trunk, or better yet one of those portable jump starters.
If you feel around the trunk after a rain storm to identify the location it is often the right side that leaks, this migrates its way to the spare tire storage area. Reason is that if the battery is not properly charged it very well may send a surge of power into the car.

If you want to build a dirt-cheap electric car battery pack, your only option is to use deep-cycle, lead acid batteries. It is not necessary to understand complex electrical theory to build an electric car, I sure don’t. When wiring in series the voltage of the battery pack increases with each battery added, and the amp hour capacity stays the same. Some guys do it, but by the time you buy 16-24 batteries to build a pack this way, the cost starts to get so close to what lithium would cost that there’s really no point.
I had real doubts about this website but your promptness of response, quick followup and to the point answer with picture was incredible. Although Lithium Iron Phosphate have been shown to be cheaper in the long run, the price to buy them upfront is prohibitive for many hobbyists.
If each battery has an amp hour rating of 50ah, the total for the pack would now be 200ah (50ah x 4 batteries = 200ah). Two of the 48v packs pictured above can be wired together in parallel to increase the total amp hours and for EV purposes…extend the range of the EV.
If you lock the doors manually then close them they all unlock immediately, basically making it impossible for you to lock your keys in the car by requiring you to lock the door with the key or the FOB.
It is possible to get lead acid batteries for free or very cheap making them the ideal choice for most.
