Battery life iphone 4s issues, car battery capacity mah app, green light on top of car battery,12 volt car battery amperage draw - Test Out

Well, I still have no tips on improving the battery life, even though I have commented on various trials I have done in the comments section of the article, so I can only say that my next idea is quite simply to get a petition sent to manufacturers to sort out the battery problems for the new range of smartphones that we now consume like ravenous gadget freaks from another planet.
Albeit ones who are left with a block of no good plastic in our pockets unless we carry spare batteries around all day. Firstly though, let me just say that I was a convert to my Samsung S2 from an iPhone 3G, and I have to say I had no issues whatsoever with this phones battery, but in all honesty, I never browsed the internet or did much more than play quite simple games every now and again. Something has happened in the last two years and that is the original breed of smartphones have now got so smart that they simply run out of power due to brain overload, it really is almost that simple.
We have what can only be described as high end laptops, by yesterdays standards, in a device that fits snugly in our pockets. Calendar bug – This little beast saps your battery life by continually updating and reordering your events, no fix seems to be available just yet so simply turn the blighter off for now. Time zone bug – Simply saps your battery big style, to solve go to Settings > Location Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone and disable Location Services.
Another suggestion, would be to make sure you always stay up to date with iOS updates, as these can fix issue such as battery life. And please do let us know any tips you may have that help improve the battery life of the Apple iPhone 4S. Got friends who say that theres is terrible but mine seems better, yet we do pretty much the same stuff i think. When batteries are improved the whole smartphone world will be improved. I think a petition makes sense, I would happily have a thicker and heavier phone if it meant my phone lasted all day.
But you are right, there is not a great deal you can do, these phones are just too powerful for the battery. Hi Kristan you make some good points, but I ask you if your battery life could be improved so you did not have to carry an old Nokia around for general calls, would you be willing to sacrifice an extra 5 mm all round and a few grams in weight? The Reminders feature combined with Siri is great and obviously helpful, but it seems to constantly query the location of the iPhone, presumably to try and determine where the thing is and if a reminder should be triggered. The automatic time setting seems to be a huge culprit because the default is to not show when the location service is on in the menu bar.
For example, if you’re on Main Street, slowly moving in bumper-to-bumper, iOS5 will use your slow movement to analyze speed on Main Street, and if it shows several others also moving slowly on that road, it will show that road in red instead of green, meaning congested.
If foursquare is an app you use, you should turn the radar function off to make sure your battery lasts as long as it should. I don’t know about other countries, but I have yet to see a plan that offers over 100gb of MOBILE DATA.
If you want some more insight into fixing battery drain with an iOS 7 device, then take a look at the article we published back in September right here.
Full details on how to fix your battery life woes can be seen in this article, which we solved during a hands-on with the iPhone 5 and 4S model.
As someone who has been lucky enough to spend the last few months testing iOS 5 in various beta stages, it has to be said that the version we’re all currently enjoying has come a long way since the early days.
When Apple released the iOS 5 GM not that long ago, I instantly noticed that my iPhone 4’s battery life was lasting roughly half of what it was before.
See, it appears that iOS 5’s GM release introduced a bug that causes the Setting Time Zone function to keep the location tracking circuitry running constantly, draining battery power considerably. Interestingly, there appears to be no rhyme or reason as to why some handsets seem to have the issue, with not all iOS 5 installations apparently causing the bug to manifest itself in the same way. Special thanks must go to Jon Honeyball of PC Pro fame for the original idea that got all our testing underway.
I have the iphone 4 with ios 5 (not jailbroken) and even with this setting off (which it has been since I noticed the arrow in my status bar right away when I got ios 5) my battery life is literally about half of before.
What seemed to have an effect (still verifying) is turning off sync with wifi and turning off syncing with icloud. I think some of the extra usage is just lighting up the screen every 15 minutes (at least, for my case) when you get a new notification.

Not everyone seems to bee affected so don’t miss out on iOS 5 because of a small percentage of user problems. Nice one, thanks for that.,, after switching it off my battery life is now as it ahould be!! I disabled it anyway as well as traffic, iads, and diagnostics on my 4S and see if it will help. Meanwhile, if someone has a suggestion on my wife’s phone issue, I would appreciate it. As some above already mentioned, the screen lighting up with every notification, I use boxcar for FB, email and Twitter and wouldn’t miss it for the world, drais a lot of power too.
I noticed drastic improvements in bat life on the 5.0 software, but, sometimes the location hangs, and that drops 2-3 hours of bat life. I feel battery life is the next frontier in Nanotelecomputers; in that regard if Apple could make the 4Sx or the 5 a 1mm (or 2) thicker and few ounces heavier but lasted 12 hours of abuse use they will make the, at least in my scale, the first superphone (or Super Nanotelecomputer).
The only thing which so far worked splendidly was switching off the phone plus the location – just with WiFi the battery is fine.
Did anyone also have this mistery in loosing a few battery percent thought connected to power? But I have to say: Sorry Apple, but if you want to sell a smartphone for 660€, this just don’t have to happen!!! Thanks for your post have tried that made no difference, battery still running low very quick. Also noticed the iphone 4S heating up, its quite warm to the touch if not hot surely thats not normal. It is standard for ALL recharable batteries, at least once a full cycle of charge and drain, and for better lifetime once a month. I have an iphone 4s and changing the time zone setting made no difference but when I turned off the compass calibration it seemed to make a difference.
I turned off push for email, ALL notifications, including vibrate, and most sounds, with the exception of the ringtone and the `swoosh’ for sent email. I checked the Time Zone location thing as instructed here and yes, the status bar icon disappeared. Such is the keenness to get these new selling points out to the mass market and begin a proper trial that early adopters often pay the price of being a bit flash. When your phone is updating continually due to location settings being used for data retrieval and calculations, this is when the battery is getting zapped the most. This is happening but it is nowhere nearly as sexy as customer facing features such as LTE, flexible displays and cholesteric e-paper so investment will always be slower. Or, should manufacturers just hold their hands up and say here have a spare…though Apple lovers unfortunately would not get that option right now! Subscribe to the OSXDaily newsletter to get more of our great Apple tips, tricks, and important news delivered to your inbox! I turned that on as soon as I got my phone and noticed that the location search never turned off. Disabling location Reminders isn’t mentioned in your link, and it offers a significant improvement.
The drain in most circumstances would be due to iOS 7 not installing correctly, and we have touched on this in the past but wanted to recap a battery life fix for new owners that gained the device over Christmas. This is due to the battery life drain being related to a bad install when updating or restoring a backup in most cases, as mentioned above. Switching it off may mean that your iPhone will no longer set its own time zone when you travel, but that’s a small price to pay for having your iPhone last more than 12 hours on a full charge.
There’s no need to cripple such essential functionality, and it appears that the Setting Time Zone option is the one that causes the hit on battery life.
The screenshots below, taken using my own iPhone 4S before and after the change, tell their own story.

I could even quit the maps app but if I had traffic turned on it would stay active in the status bar. I was wondering why my fairly new iPad 2 was running low on juice much quicker than before sine the ios5 update. Since I have wrote the first time in this blog, some 50min ago, my battery power dropped down 9%!
I noticed higher than normal battery drain, went into settings & locations services to investigate and noticed time zone setting constantly using location services. I did a hard reboot, then killed all the apps running, also turned off the real time local weather.
To fix this issue you run the phone completely down until it turns off, then recharge it completely without interruption. Which makes sense, as this kind of background grunt work is pretty processor intensive and so you can expect that it will eat into your precious battery life.
Oh and batteries tend to catch fire or explode so they take far more time to get past the FCC and other bodies. Who knows, but while the editor of TechCrunch is ranting in a public letter to Apple, try this out, it works for now.
After reading this article, I am convinced that these location services are gobbling up 3G data usage as well as battery power – so thanks for the article. The bad news is that they have no idea what's causing it.Apple engineers have been getting in touch with people who have reported the battery issue, asking them for details and data from their phone and having them install a diagnostic file that sends extra info back to Cupertino. On the other hand I really like iOS 5 and the ability to sync calendar, contacts and reminders between devices. If you leave the phone connected and take it on the next day i often had the problem the battery was down to 97% or even less. What I find interesting is that when checking usage before turning Setting Time Zone Off, it was usually close to the equivalent of the standby time since the last charge – maybe 20 minutes difference.
Turned it off and battery life has markedly improved (though I still think a little worse than with iOS 4 (when using iBooks anyways).
But apparently the engineers there are still pretty stumped as to what's causing it.The New iPhone 4SIs it a reason to not buy the phone? I noticed that suddenly the battery drains very fast and even during the night when it wasn’t used at all. I have location services for more than a dozen apps on and notifications send to banners constantly throughout the day.
Twitter and forums on the web over lit up with similar problems, and a few fixes were suggested, mostly to no avail. And yes, using my Iphone while browsing or playing around, I recognize noticeable heat up at it’s backside, too! I hope this works, as my phone lasted for days before I installed OS5, now it lasts about five hours.
Once I figured that out, my battery life now lasts a full 12 hours, and my battery doesn’t die as fast even with the use of youtube and tons of texting.
Not only that, we didn’t notice it when we set the phone down for several hours and it drained down to nothing. I plugged it in and it did not seem to charge, so I rebooted it and got the battery to charge. Now when I plug it in either to the wall charger or the computer, it will be on and working for 5 or 10 minutes then it re-boots on it’s own.
