Any new research on herpes, women's health natural remedies - How to DIY

Fluorescent staining shows areas of the cornea affected by herpes virus that infected a man’s eyes. Studies find that by age 60, virtually all adults carry herpes simplex virus 1 — best known for seeping cold sores but also potentially blinding when it hits the eyes.
It’s a tactic that researchers say may also hold promise for attacking HIV, another virus whose habit of hiding out makes it hard to kill, and the herpes zoster virus that causes excruciating shingles. Herpes viruses are best known for causing cold sores and genital lesions but they can also affect the eye, potentially leading to blindness.
To block that key LSD1 enzyme, the researchers used an existing antidepressant, called tranylcypromine. The antidepressant offers proof of concept, researchers say, but if the new method is eventually used on human patients, it’s likely to be in the form of new drugs developed specifically to act on LSD1. Researchers are also trying to fight persistent viruses like HIV by trying to activate the virus; then they attack it with drugs or hope the immune system will clear it from the body. But herpes viruses are reactivated in nerve cells, so they can potentially cause damage to the nervous system when they kick back up, says Harvard Medical School’s Dr. Kristie says he hopes the paper will stimulate HIV and other virus researchers to explore similar methods, and he sees potential spillover from cancer drugs that target epigenetics into other fields — like virus research. Genital herpes is one of the most common types of sexually transmitted infections (STI) in the United States – as well as one of the most frustrating. The discovery could lead to a vaccine capable of preventing herpes lesions on people who have already contracted the STI – or in other words, a vaccine that could “clinically cure” an individual of herpes symptoms. The newly identified T-cells, called CD8??+ T-cells, reveal a great deal more information about genital herpes than was initially known. Before this study, researchers believed that herpes reactivation was controlled at the ganglion level of the spinal canal area. Not only did the research team make this significant discovery about the T-cells’ location, they also found that the CD8??+ T-cells are programmed to remain in the skin surrounding the genitals at all times – making them resident memory T-cells.
Researchers had originally estimated that herpes reactivated once a month, but the discovery of these ever-present T-cells led Corey and his team to believe the virus actually reactivates once a week or every few days. CD8??+ T-cells were previously known to exist in the gut mucosa, but most of the research on CD8+ T-cells focused on studying them in blood circulation. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 776,000 people in the United States are infected with herpes each year, and one out of six people between the ages of 14 and 49 have genital HSV-2 infection. Join tens of thousands of doctors, health professionals and patients who receive our newsletters. The researchers found that interferon gamma kept the herpes virus dormant, but when the immune system responded to a helminth infection, the virus would reactivate. The researchers observed that another protein called interleukin 4 was released by the immune system to deal with the helminth, but this blocked the interferon gamma function and also activated the replication function of the herpes virus.

Replication of the virus causes new cells to be infected, increasing the chances that a cancerous tumor will form.
Earlier this week, Medical News Today reported on research from scientists at the University of Montreal in Canada who suggest that a small molecule found in the urine of pregnant women blocks the growth of Kaposi's sarcoma, as well as a variety of other cancers. In 2013, we also reported on a study that suggested a type of nanoparticle could be used to deliver vaccines that protect against HIV, human papilloma virus and herpes, as well as flu and other respiratory diseases. New research has found that sending an email to a love interest is more effective at creating arousal than leaving a voicemail. Research finds we have strong associations with Monday and Friday, while we have weaker associations with the middle days, leading us to confuse them more. A thousand-year-old remedy for eye infections may also fight modern-day drug-resistant bacteria, a new study finds.
It’s time we start talking about herpes, both on the mouth and on other, much more sensitive body parts. A recent study funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease has developed a novel treatment approach for persistent viral infections, specifically herpes.
Herpes treatment is not the only current use for LSD1-specific inhibitors such as tranylcypromine. Herpes simplex virus 2, the sexually transmitted disease, infects more than a quarter of people by their forties, the CDC says. From the lab to your doctor’s office, from the broad political stage to the numbers on your scale, we’d like CommonHealth to be your go-to source for news, conversation and smart analysis. Researchers have identified a subtype of immune cells that suppress outbreaks of genital herpes caused by the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2).
The researchers believe this explains why cases of herpes can sometimes return after the virus has long lain dormant in a host. Louis, MO, Renne and his UF colleagues investigated how human herpes virus 8 - a herpes virus linked to the Kaposi's sarcoma cancer - reactivates.
The researchers are also confident that similar results could be found with both HSV-1 and HSV-2, and that it would work no matter how long the host has been infected. Around 90 percent of Americans carry the HSV-1 cold sore virus and around one in six Americans aged 14 to 49 have genital herpes, which is commonly HSV-2. The Giveaway is sponsored by IBT Media Inc., 7 Hanover Square, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10004 (“Sponsor”).

Unfortunately, there is no cure or vaccine against the virus, but a team of researchers are working on perhaps the next best thing: A treatment that can suppress outbreaks and prevent the virus’s spread. Nevertheless, even though the herpes virus is incredibly widespread, there are currently few treatment options, and those that do exist are largely unpredictable. All previous winners of any giveaway or contest sponsored by IBT Media are not eligible to enter.
