Description

Simple calorie tracker can be helpful in keeping a record of daily calorie intake and expenditure. A food calorie database or exercise database is not provided. Calorie information can be obtained from the web, food packaging or from books. If you are in North America free nutrition information can be obtained from http://www.ars.usda.gov/ba/bhnrc/ndl

Compatibility

Testing was done with the Palm Emulator and Simulator and on a Palm Zire 21(tm). The program should be compatible with most recent versions of the Palm OS(R) but this is not thoroughly tested.

Installing

The program consists of a single file called SCT.prc. Use HotSync(R) to install the application.

Setting Up

The first screen the application will show is the set up screen.

 

 

 Use this opportunity to enter some goals for yourself or ignore the screen by hitting OK. It is possible to come back later (via the Main Form) if you don’t want to set any goals.

Entering Foods into the Database

Use the Food DB screens to enter the calorie and serving information of foods you eat.

 

 

This is entirely optional but can be useful in speeding up entry later. (Calories listed are sourced from the USDA Nutrient Database SR19).

Entering Exercises into the Database

Use the Exercise DB screens to store the approximate calories burned per minute of your favourite exercises. Again this is optional.

 

Further foods or exercises can be added later by returning to these screens.

Using the Diet Diary/Day View

The day view screen contains shows a summary of a day’s calorie intake and expenditure.

 

 

Entering Diet Information

 Tap the ‘Food & Drink’ label to enter consumption.

 

 

You might like to set up some meal categories.

 

 

Once food is entered a summary is show on the Day view.

 

 

Tapping the word Snacks expands the list.

 

 

Tap the word apple if you would like to edit the entry.

 

Entering Exercise Information

 

Tap the Exercise label to enter information about any exercise.

 

 

Use the lookup buttons to find foods or exercises.

Navigation

To move between screens use the Goto Menu.

 

 

Day Diary – The main day screen used to enter food eaten and exercise done on a particular day.

Measurements – Allows entry of measurements that have been setup.

Week View – Shows a summary of a week’s worth of calorie information.

Graphs – Shows some simple graphs.

Last Measures – Shows information about the measurements entered into the database.

Main Form - is a simple front end screen that can also be used for navigation and accessing the Setup Screen.

 

Foods DB – Allows entry of Food and serving information for referencing later.

Exercise DB – Allows entry of Exercise information for referencing later.
