I always spent my half an hour to read this website's posts everyday along with a mug of coffee. Meditation, in the deepest sense of the word, refers to the complete settling of the minds activity.
Many people say that they don’t meditate for rest, they meditate for activity – or rather, they meditate for the improvement that deep rest provides in activity. Also there has been countless studies on the effectiveness of meditation for improving health, increasing mental capacity and decreasing stress in the nervous system. Meditation is a means of quieting the busy chatter inside our head by slowing down the thought process, through one pointed focus, using a mind tool as the center of interest. Simply put, the goal in meditation is to redirect the focus from the many thoughts we have at any given moment, toward one single thing, which could include using specific breathing techniques, postures, motions (yoga asana) or sound (such as a mantra), a visualization or focused attention on whatever arises within the body or mind, on a moment to moment basis. There are many different styles of meditation, I practice, Mantra Meditation, Mindfulness Meditation and Yoga. By clearing the mind, meditation can help a person make more informed and better decisions.
Some other positives of meditation are an increase in self-acceptance and learning how to forgive yourself for past mistakes. Meditative practices take many forms, but the fundamental idea is that the person who is meditating tries to go beyond the normal processes of thinking and logic in order to achieve a deeper, more relaxed state of mind.

When we take a look at the various explanations of meditation, another thing we often see is that meditation is defined as taking a moment to sit quietly or to ponder. Concentration is an effort to fix the attention on a particular object or idea for a long period of time.
Sounds, voices, colors and involuntary movements have nothing to do with meditation or spirituality. Meditation is seen by a number of researchers as potentially one of the most effective forms of stress reduction. Meditation however, has been developed in Eastern cultures and has a documented history of more than several thousand years.
A US study for example, showed that a short course of behaviour modification strategies that included meditation led to significantly fewer visits to physicians during the six months that followed. Meditation can be an effective form of stress reduction and has the potential to improve quality of life and decrease healthcare costs.
Meditation is effortless and leads to a state of ‘thoughtless awareness’ in which the excessive stress producing activity of the mind is neutralised without reducing alertness and effectiveness. Authentic meditation enables one to focus on the present moment rather than dwell on the unchangeable past or undetermined future. There is little quality evidence comparing one meditation technique with another or meditation with relaxation techniques. The theoretical explanation for the effects of meditation and relaxation techniques is that the release of catecholamines and other stress hormones are reduced and parasympathetic activity is increased.

I remember when I started meditating over 5 years ago now and those first few weeks were the hardest. ReplyMilan C August 1st, 2014Sir, I can say that I am passing through at this moment the same thing you wrote. It feels so good when you hear that someone had the same problems you do, it’s like relief. When you practice mediation, you develop a tendency to use mind more efficiently in the present moment for creation and abundance. This is accomplished as Meditation brings the brainwave pattern into an alpha state, which is a level of consciousness that promotes the well-being and accelerates the healing capacity of body. A lot of times it's very difficult to get that perfect balance between user friendliness and visual appearance.
I could have sworn I've visited your blog before but after browsing through many of the posts I realized it's new to me. It refers to the experience of silent, inner wake-fullness – not wake-fullness of what’s going on in the outside world, but awareness of the silent reservoir of intelligence that resides within ones own Self. The reason for meditating are two-fold: the first reason is the experience itself, and the second is the results that experience produces after meditation. After meditating, most people go into activity with far greater energy, creativity and efficiency. You can read more about this research on the American National Institute of Health website.

Jonn Kabat-Zinn creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.  Mindfulness Meditation is a technique in which you observe your own thoughts and emotions moment to moment, in a non-judgmental way, with open-hearted compassion and acceptance to whatever arises inside or outside of us. The roots of meditation can be traced back as far as the 12th century when one of the first teachings was done by a monk named Guigo II.
Those who meditate are taught to focus their minds until they achieve a higher state of consciousness. But it’s safe to say that meditation is a way to focus the mind in order to gain voluntary control over it. Through meditation, there is a heightened awareness of the nuances of life that allows people to be more optimistic and to find joy in the smallest of things. Meditating regularly will help spur creativity, a helpful thing for people who require new ideas and inspiration to succeed at their jobs. By achieving your own inner peace, you may find that the people around you also become more accepting and loving. Wandering clouds of doubt and fear begins to fade and give way to calm, cool and serene environs within. When you see how fickle the world is and understand its impermanence, it opens up new avenues for you. On the other hand, mindfulness meditation is all inclusive; here we focus over the reality. It’s amazing that so many results can come out of just that simple experience of deep inner rest! These exercises are not really meditation – they are substitutes for meditation because it is normally very difficult to stop our minds all-together. It is a strategy that can easily be adapted to the needs of clinicians and their patients in the West. How can I improve and become a better person, in order to be of greater service to mankind? This seems bizarre when they have not sought to acquire answers through practice of the meditation that they do not do!!
The practice of mindfulness technique is useful in every walk of life like reading, writing, gaming, exercise etc.
Trying to put me off Sahaja Med only wants me to practice to estabish ‘any’ benefits! A few moments of thoughtless awareness refreshes body, mind and energize to take stride ahead.
Well, if we know the answers to these questions, then we know that meditation is as important as eating, drinking, and breathing. Surely one of the reasons we shoud meditaten is to show compassion, facilitate awareness, endorse peace, love and harmony etc etc??
Look at your own life – how you have lived and what mistakes you have made knowingly or unknowingly. Once you do, then it will become much easier for you to make the transition from living ignorantly to living consciously. He further adds, “Important part of mindfulness is reestablishing the connection with our body and sensations it experiences.
Truly, a man can be in meditation while doing his day’s labors as another man can be very far from meditation while sitting in a lotus posture on the top of a mountain. So, in a way, meditation gives the right knowledge and the right training to tackle life adeptly.
Meditation is being with our pure Self; being in command of all activities of the mind and senses as well as making the right choices. This means waking up to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the present moment”In our daily fast paced lives, it is easy to stop noticing the world around us be detached with the way our body feels or experiences. A blind man needs a stick to walk safely, but if we can cure his blindness then he can do without that stick. Meditation is not only an antidote to preexisting stress but is also a preventive measure against occurrence of stress and tensions.
We end up being caught in our thoughts and not noticing how those thoughts is driving our emotions and behavior in the present moment.
The tremendous transformation that meditation can bring in you can be attained only by delving into its expansive realm. Most often these thoughts are of incidents that have happened in the past or anticipation about the future.
BEGIN YOUR PRACTICE You can explore the vast array of guided meditation techniques designed and developed by Sadgurudev Anandmurti Gurumaa viz. Mindfulness practice teaches awareness, to be aware of our thoughts, whatever they may be and be fully present in the moment.Mindfulness is a form of meditation, where in you are practicing to be fully aware and focused in moment.
We need to open our inner eyes – the eyes of our mind and then we'll be able to enjoy the every-flowing bliss of life. And then everything will become clear – meditation gives this pristine clarity to our life. Then another method is called Nishkriya Dhyana meaning passive meditation wherein you take a leap beyond the boundaries of the mind into the ocean of tranquility. It would seem very obvious or too simple to have this awareness or being in full control of your thoughts, but it is not. A very good analogy is standing on the curb and watching the cars pass by, where cars are your thoughts.
Once we get in touch with this energy, our life changes from just being an ordinary to a divine one. As a simple task, try closing your eyes and just try not to think anything or focus on your breathing. You will notice that in the span of 5 minutes, your mind would have wandered off into different thoughts before you even realized or were aware of.
Life throws up many challenges and if we do not have the right tools to face these, then we end up failing miserably. Over the decades, we are trained to live our life, chasing future or pondering over the past. There are scores of people fighting mental problems – suicides are happening in large numbers.
Ironically only thing that we have in our control is this “moment”, Past has already happened and future is unknown.
Remember that in this fast- paced life, we have to live with competitions which are nerve-wrecking. Yet, we forget this and spend days, months, years clogging our mind with contemplations, analyses, worries and speculations.Mindfulness is a form of meditation where we try and live the present, with a simple goal of “being aware”. Then there is the bombardment of advertisements on TV, newspapers, magazines and internet which puts a lot of pressure on our minds.
Mindfulness meditation is grounded on rational and scientific plane and now there are many studies and trials that have shown to have a significant impact on various issues like OCD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, etc.Whatever maybe your goal, dedicating 10 minutes of your daily life to a formal practice of mindfulness meditation can greatly bring that mental peace and awareness. Anyway this is the century of exhibitionism – people earn to show off, vanity is on constant display. All this leads to immense pressure on the mind, resulting in a sense of insecurity and lack of trust.
