Rhodes University‘s Wellness Week is under way until Friday 5 October and the initiative promotes an awareness of multiple spheres of student lifestyle. Dr Colleen Vassiliou, manager of student wellness at the university, pointed out the importance of striking the right balance. Wellness Week aims to shed light on the factors which would help students achieve optimum health as well as social and emotional functioning.
Thursday 4 October will focus on physical wellness, with a mass aerobics session scheduled to take place at the Steve Biko Lawns. Meanwhile, a comedy show will be held at the Day Kaif on Friday 5 October in promotion of emotional wellness.
Your heart rate goes up and the stress hormone adrenaline is produced (not all times but especially when your are challenging yourself). Apart from being a health and fitness freak, I love writing, and this blog is a perfect outlet for it.


If I was able to help even one person enough to get them to change their life around for the better, I would consider myself extremely fortunate.
Stress simply involves production of specific hormones, increased heart rate, and in turn constricted blood vessels. I am not a professional writer by any means, but would like to be someday, so I can inspire people far and wide.

I am happily married to the love of my life, and thoroughly enjoy being a stepmom to two of the most wonderful kids I know. The positive feelings that your mind creates, helps you not think of the stressful situation as stress.


And I will still tell you that stress is good for you, only if you choose to change your thought process. In those stressful situations if you simply chose to look at them as an opportunity to change things, or as a challenge to turn it around, you will see that stress is actually good for you. Stress gives you a chance and poses a challenge for you to make a change, or do something better.
