There are lot of things that we would rather not do that we perceive as required and unavoidable, but in reality, are optional.
Much of this conditioning of accepting unwanted commitments comes not only from not knowing how to say no, but from living your life based on a template. Removing all the things from your life that you don’t want, is just as powerful as adding to it the things you love doing.
A lot of people justify doing things that make them unhappy because they label it as important.
By removing all the unwanted things from our lives, we create room for new, authentic endeavors. Have you ever noticed that when you clean your workspace or your home, but you don’t change your habits, in a few days or weeks it’s right back to the way it was? The purpose of removing all the unwanted baggage from our life is not to create a vacuum, but to make room for things that make us feel alive.
When they first arrived on the scene, smart phones seemed to be a bit of a status symbol, identifying those who were really “on the cutting edge” of gadget technology.
If you have a smart phone, you should definitely be utilizing the calendar features and reminders.
There really is no step-by-step guide to simplifying your life, because not every tip will work for every person.
My friend’s Christmas was indeed picture-perfect, and for many years, it was a source of great pleasure to her.
If you’re still trying to live your life in a way that will please your family, your parents, Santa, or the powers that be, it’s time to stop and ask yourself WHY. The things that are important to do but either can be put off for the time being or can be allocated to someone else.
The things that aren’t all that important in terms of your goals or that someone else can do instead of you.
Focus on your 5 most important tasks, and try to find ways to get rid of the other tasks (eliminate, automate, delegate, or hire help). Learn to say no.  This year I will learn to say no to things that take my time from my family and that add unnecessary stress to my life. What are some other ways to simplify your life that you can think of?  These are just my thoughts but I would love to hear from you as I start my journey to a simpler, less stressful life. Since it is the last Friday of the month…that means it’s time for my book review! I finished this book last Friday actually – while my little girl was taking a nice, long nap and I was soaking my pregnant feet.

On page 155, Ramsland advises keeping a holiday notebook every year in which to record everything about your Christmas. I do buy most of my books from amazon – sometimes new or used, depending on the price and how many swagbucks I have available.
It depends on your organizational goal, but if you mainly want to organize your home, I would recommend her Simplify Your Space book over Simplify Your Life. As far as what helps my Christmas stay Christ-centered and not have the meaning lost jumbled in with wrapping paper, organization really does help.
I sort of want an overview of everything, not just how to organize room by room as I can do that myself. Removing unwanted commitments and quitting things we hate, however, isn’t as obvious.
They think it makes sense from a societal point of view, from the point of view of their friends, family or some institution. The fact is, keeping all your underwear and socks color coded isn’t very important if you almost have a seizure when the blue is mixed in with the pink. If you feel your life becoming stale, monotonous and everything seems like a chore, you probably need to shed all the unwanted musts clinging on to you.
It’s important that we remember to fill what we left behind with joyful pursuits, otherwise the clutter and garbage will start to seep back in (just give it time, trust me). They have written for the LA Times, The Washington Post, President Bill Clinton's White House, Forbes, and more. Instead of collecting tons of little notes, appointment cards, and a big appointment book, use the same gadget that you use to call home—your phone! But, exploring the many apps available, like shopping list apps, to-do lists, fitness trackers, mileage trackers, tax deduction monitors, and more, can help you save tons of time in the long run. Reward points for participants updating records in Salesforce such as email and phone number. For me, it means getting rid of the overwhelming things I do so I can spend more time with people I love and do the things I love. Keeping your life simple is a journey, not a destination, and it can be a journey of two steps forward and one step back. But if you’re looking for a little more guidance, I’ve put together a few ideas that may help. But somewhere along the line, her pleasure turned to exhaustion and she began dreading the holidays. If meeting your perfect standards leaves you with too little energy to enjoy other things, it’s time to relax them and learn to be more flexible. Eliminate the things that aren’t satisfying, focus on what’s important, and redesign your day.
But you’ll be surprised to discover just how much choice you have about where your energies go. Toni provided a detailed and in-depth report that helped me to put things that happened in my life into perspective.
We’re all familiar with the idea of spring cleaning, but some late-summer simplifying is a great way to keep the clutter to a minimum going into fall. And in a funny twist of events, the main message in church yesterday was about simplifying our lives to focus on the things that are most important.  Yep, this is my word.
One thing I love about Ramsland’s books (I also read her Simplify Your Space last year) is that she is very specific and practical about what needs to be done in order to simplify and gain order.

Filled with practical suggestions and charts, this chapter is definitely going to be my friend come October.
Sometimes I’ve had goals of things to do to make the true meaning of Christmas more meaningful and I have even gotten stressed with that. For many, it is simply an opportunity to constantly check their email, text their friends and follow social media. If you are diligent about your calendar updating, and include addresses, phone numbers and other details (like what to bring to an appointment), you will find that life gets a little easier. With Toni’s expert guidance, I set realistic goals and took decisive action for the first time in my life.
She has so many great tips and tools to help you get your mindset in the right place so you can lose the weight and keep it off. First of all, she’s an excellent coach which comes through in the way she delivers the reading. But simplifying your life isn’t just about removing the physical clutter out of your cabinets; it’s meant to make us look a little bit closer at our lifestyle and eliminate the things that keep us from truly enjoying life. Some things I am currently working or have accomplished, such as the organizing and chores.
She constantly gives practical tips she has used either in her own life or in a client’s life. At a time when we should be spending more time worshiping Jesus and celebrating His coming to earth, it’s easy to overlook it all in favor of a few new cookie recipes or trimming the tree. So I would get as specific as you can with your organizational goal, then buy a book to help you reach it.
But, for many “smart” smart phone users, this is the kind of technology that can really help to simplify your life, help you stay more organized, and reduce clutter and chaos!
You can keep separate calendars for work, personal life, kids, etc., and have them all synced in one place so you know where you need to be. If you try to do everything on your to-do list, you’ll never get it all done, and worse yet, you won’t get the important stuff done. There is a lot of information included in the chart but her ability to break down the components, explain the meaning and make the connections between the different sections is masterful.
In today’s fast-paced world, the idea of sitting on the porch with your family or a good book without having anywhere to be can be hard to imagine! There isn’t a formula for simplifying your life. I also need to simplify my online life, health and I definitely need to spend more time with the people I care about. But most of the time I am not consistent in following through with the ideas or improvement areas. She obviously knows Numerology very well; she answered all of my questions without hesitation and gave me lots of suggestions to boot.
And you can set electronic reminders so that you are never late again (assuming you actually pay attention to the reminders….). I love to make holidays special by doing special family things, but the only way that will happen is if I’m organized enough to find and plan for those outings.
