So I’ve been experimenting a little bit and trying out different spiritual practices, hoping to find new ways to feel connected to Jesus.
Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that focuses on God instead of our own desires. Centering Prayer makes me realize that in silence, stillness, and solitude I am completely powerless. Almighty Father, In this world filled with goodness, evil, pleasure, leisure, lust and temptations, our desire is to have the fruit of Your Spirit evident in our lives.
Give us Father, a spirit of self control, that we may face today with calmness and control. Titus 2 : 11-13 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age. Lord Jesus, help us with a spirit of self control when we are tempted with sexual desires and lusts over flesh. We pray for a spirit of self control as we deal with money, wealth, our daily living habits and our pleasures. 1 Peter 5 : 8 Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
Lord Jesus, we believe and we trust that You will deliver us from temptations and self indulgence as we place our hearts in Your loving care. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. About CheryceI'm a young Christian, from South Trinidad, seeking the wisdom of the Word and God's blessings on my life.
Hey Buddy!, I found this information for you: "Prayer For Those Grieving the Loss of Loved Ones". It’s been one of those seasons when words just aren’t enough—they seem trite and uninspired, and they just don’t get at the heart of what I’m trying to say to the Lord.

In all my experimenting, the practices that have nourished my soul are the practices of the Christian Contemplative Tradition, especially silence, stillness and solitude, and Centering Prayer. I’m declaring to God and to myself that I have nothing, that I can do nothing, and that I can say nothing. I may not feel like anything has changed or been worked out in the middle of my fast, but I see changes, small differences in my everyday life. In the fast of silence, stillness, and solitude, my hidden motivations and fake constructions of perfection are revealed.
The campaign features six weekly challenges, stories of students making a difference from countries around the world, and a global sharing platform where each person can share how they are uniquely participating.
She loves finding new coffee shops in Oakland, California, and blogs about finding hope in the midst of mourning at My Long Goodbye.
Grant us Father we pray, a spirit of self control, that we may face all issues of life with calmness and control ourselves from self and over indulgence. In family life, or as singles, help us restraint ourselves from thoughts of lust and be pure in heart, mind and soul.
Though we may stumble, Your mighty power will lead us back in focus and self control and deliver us from the evil schemes of satan.  We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit and we pray that we will be renewed daily with a fresh filling of Your Spirit as we come and surrender ourselves in Your blessed name Lord Jesus Christ, Amen!
You wept at the loss of Lazarus, yet You are capable of overcoming death and the sorrow of death.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
In Centering Prayer we’re fasting from our expectations of God—we’re not asking for anything, not waiting for an answer, not thinking about the next item on our to-do list.
I see myself starting to live a life more filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Things I held onto that gave me a false sense of stability have been stripped away, and I’ve been forced to admit that I can’t do it all on my own.
Sometimes it seems simpler to ignore silence and instead fill the space around me with television shows, music on my iPod, and conversations with friends. The InterVarsity blog is participating by featuring corresponding posts each Sunday written by InterVarsity's Urban Projects directors. In a relationship, may we practise self-control and give in to one another in sexual desires only in bond of marriage.

As a family, may we keep ourselves in the right perspective and chose a living, evenly spread with all joys and pleasures that are blessed in Your eyes. Today we weep at the death of our friends, family or loved one, but Blessed Father, we can rest assured knowing You are there for us, knowing we can find comfort and peace within You, in the midst of our tears and our grief. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
As I’ve fasted from distractions, busyness, and the company of others through Centering Prayer, I’ve been discouraged by how many times random thoughts pop into my head, by the number of people I hear outside my window, by the impatience I feel as I try to sit still for 20 minutes at a time. So they require practice; we have to build up a muscle memory of consent and surrender to our loving and all-powerful God.
It’s painful to have the veneer of self-sufficiency broken, to die to myself and to all my false perceptions, but it’s a part of surrender to the loving God who wants to make us whole. But it’s a journey that’s brought me closer to the One whose Son chose the lonely road to the cross in order to give us freedom and life. May we grow in deeper mutual understanding, respect,  honour and most of all with love for one another, as we grow in self control to be able to  counter defeat most issues in life. May we never indulge in anything impure and illicit and may our choices be never rash or impulsive. We need You, we are crying out in desperation in search of that peace that will soon emerge as we cling to You.
And we do it to show our love for God—love that’s not dependent on hearing God’s voice or getting an answer to our prayers, but is content to just be with the Creator. Help us Lord pray and receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all our decisions of family work, friendship and relationships. Even in the midst of our grief, we declare that all we pray for will come to pass, in Jesus mighty name, Amen!!
