While we are not necessarily called upon to treat trauma in our classes, we must recognize that many people will seek remedy for their trauma symptoms with yoga, and that yoga, when taught in a trauma-informed manner, is proven to help alleviate the effects of trauma.
This training presents the basics necessary to create a non-harming atmosphere; subsequent weekend trainings will equip you to address trauma and other therapeutic issues skillfully in your class and private sessions. Chaturanga, when practiced properly, builds strength in the shoulders, arms, legs, and core and prepares the body for advanced poses like arm balances and inversions. In this workshop, we will cover Qi Gong theory and practice, the concepts of yin and yang, and the 5 elements. Another primary function of meditation is to clean out the old debris of the sub-conscious mind. The morning class was yoga and meditation and the afternoon class was on Spiritual Tools for a Balanced Life. Yoga (asana) class was led by Angela Alfieri for the 1st hour and then I led a 2-hour meditation workshop.
